The overtime session in the Hawks game, and one basket in the kings game kept me from sweeping the board. But that's what I love about the NBA! After every game I try do a little homework to help me in the future, and although I usually do not post this due to lack of time. I will try to share as much as possible. Back with some info on last night's game and tonight's games as well.

There is a couple games last night that jumped out at me after they went final.

Washington @ New York
Final: NY 93 WAS 91
The thing I noticed most from this game was not how good the wizards are, but how bad the knicks are.

nyk.gif
The knicks only seemed to play well when they were running the floor, but always decided to go into a half court offense. They always looked out of sync on offense and were slow on subsitions, at one key point in the game Alan Houston was on the bench? Spree was the only bright spot for the knicks, and you good sense his frustration late in the game with the lack of support on the defensive side of the ball. I think the knicks are going to have a tough go of it in the early season and could be a go against when they face tougher opposition, especially if they are without Camby.

Wizard backers for future win totals over the number should be a bit uncomfortable after last night's game. Jordan seemed to comfotably wear the label of teacher allowing the "kids" to make mistakes and passing the rock when he could have taken the shot. Many viewed this as a victory for the wiz, and against the number it was, but there were plenty of weak spots that stood out. The team did not have much offensive prowess when Jordan was on the bench, and had some unforced turnovers that turned into points for the knicks. The wizard would have been blowon out if not for some hot shooting from the outside from Whitney (7 of 10) which will not be there every night, most noticeable to me was the weakness in the rebounding department. The Wizards were outrebounded by the knicks (46-39), and that is without Camby. The wizards could be in trouble when they face opposition that controls the boards. Note: They go up against the Hawks next, who had 47 boards last night, to include 18 by Abdur-Rahim.

Now I know one game does not make a season, just happened to be some of things I noticed.

Other Notes On some of last night's Games:

In the more they change the more things stay the same department

Blazers vs. Lakers

The Lakers looked primed for another title, while the Blazers were playing with no heart, team work, or leadership. If the didn't remind you of last year, Rasheed got a T for good measure.

Didn't skip a beat
Bibby fit like a glove, no pun intended, as the Kings looke solid, and showed that they will be a tough go against at home.

Kidd jumped into New Jersey and almost got the triple double leading the nets in a big comeback.

Worst of the Worst
Don't jump on the Celtic bandwagon yet, although I see them making a run for the playoffs and improving vastly, keep in mind they only played the Cavs, and in case you missed Tito's thread, they should be in the running for the most balls in the lottey bucket.

Back with Selections shortly.

Sneaks! Superb analyses.

I watched a lot of games last night (need picture in a picture in a picture cuz the TCU game was great and so was the WS!!)

A few notes of my own:

Any team with Sean Kemp playing will go nowhere. Ever.

TBlazers (and everyone else in the West?) know they are playing for second place at best and that's no fun. But . . . someone may have forgotten to tell Vlade and the boys that news and they will win a ton of games and give the Lakers a fight every game.

Orlando is better than we thought and but the line value will disappear fast. Might last another game though.

Clips are better and will have significant value at home.

The Lakers will be able to name the score whenever they bring their "A" game. Obviously, the tough decision is knowing when that will be
Nets will cover tonight and I might even throw a buck or two at the teenagers from Chicago if I can get 8 or more.

Rog,

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you but I will try to give you some brief explaination on why I favor the Overs.

Cleveland / Charlotte

First off looking at the past history of these two clubs you will see that the over has cashed the last three out of four times, and in the last two matchups both teams have scored over 100 in each game. Finally the cavs have a problem defending the fast break, as evident by the romp the celtics put on them. Coach Lucas also wanted to put more emphasis on being aggressive to the hoops because they did not go to the free throw line very often last night. I look for the cavs to be a bit more agressive going to the hoop. This should cause more trips to the line, stopping the clock, while points are on the board. Also any fast break should be easy quick points by their lack of defense. The hornets come in loaded with alot of the same players that were on the team last year, and so they should be in sync already and the bench is stocked with vets and should have no problem scoring points with the "A" guys catching a breather.
I have this one in the high 180's mid 190's

Sorry it took so long to get back on the late game total reasoning, had to take the kid trick or treating.

Take note of all the teams that played yesterday going against a team that is playing the first game of the year, and the totals are up.
