I want to format my hard drive, but I dont wanna lose the thousands of MP3s that I have. My question is....Can I partition the hard drive without formatting it  that way I can move everything to the other drive(partitioned) and format the drive with all the junk on it...

Thanks...

What you need to do is move all the files you want to keep to a zip drive or a CD before you repartition or reformat. Or you WILL lose your data.

Hella,

You can partition without reformating by using software called Partition Magic. However, I don't recommend this method because it's not very "clean". It might mess up your system to the point that you can't use it anymore!

I would suggest you copy ALL the files you need onto CD, do some backups and then just reformat. Reformatting you can partion your hard drive with Windows' built-in format command. Then you re-install Windows.

I know this is a lot of work...:p

Or you could get Partition Magic and just use that!

I agree with Ryson. System Commander is excellent too.

Redking is on the right track, but Partion Magic is sketchy @ best, it works well for image restoring but not to well on the fly. The one I have used and never had any problems is system commander the link I have a laptop that has XP, 2K and Red Hat running on it with no problems partioning on the fly. I bought mine but just did a search on kazza lite and it's there.
