Corker: No Budget, No Spending Bills

WASHINGTON ? Reiterating his opposition to considering spending bills until the Senate passes a budget, U.S. Senator Bob Corker, R-Tenn., today voted against the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, noting it has been 812 days since the Senate passed a budget.
?I have the greatest respect for our military, veterans and their families and believe they should have all appropriate resources and benefits. They are patriots, and we owe them a great debt of gratitude for what they do to protect and secure our country. I voted against passage of this bill in an effort to force the Senate to live up to its responsibility to the American people and our veterans by living within its means. Unbelievably, it has been 812 days since a budget has been passed in the Senate, and we absolutely should not be considering any bill to spend taxpayer dollars until we have done the basic job of deciding what appropriate spending levels for the year should be.?
