Now of course I am not saying that SC will win the BCS title, even though I would love for my Trojans to pull it off.

Here is what the scnario is right now.

AP Coaches
OSU OSU
Mich USC
USC Mich

This is eerily similar to 2003 with the opposite impact for USC. Lets hypothesize that SC beats the Domers and then FUCLA and gets into the title game against the Buckeyes. Lets also hypothesize that USC beats the Buckeyes and that Mich beats a solid BCS team in the Rose Bowl

That would leave a 12-1 USC, Mich, and OSU collabaration. OSU would most likely be out of the equation. That leave Michigan with the potential to be voted #1 by the AP, which no longer is part of the BCS. And of course SC would have the Crystal Ball.

That would leave us with split titles again.

And for the record, I am not saying that SC will beat OSU nor am looking for the argument of who beat who, who lost to who, how many turnovers someone had, etc.

Just looking for some opinions from folks on how they would feel about the split and specifically the reaction to Michigan getting the AP.

I think it is extremely improbable.

First, OSU isnt going to lose.

Second, even if they do, whomever beats them will get it. Michigan wont get AP over USC after USC beats OSU. And USC isnt vaulting either if they have a rematch.

In this game of hypothesis an SC win over OSU would give them the same record as UM. Assume that Michigan beats a one loss UF or Arky in the RB.

The argument could be made that SC beat OSU on a neutral field but that Mich lost to OSU at OSU. Mich could easliy say that a neutral field could have provided a different result.

Also, I would not totally dismiss the potential of SC to beat OSU. I only see 3 teams in the country that could hang with OSU and they are Mich, SC, and LSU. Team speed being the factor.

A lot of people had the foregone conclusion that SC would stomp Texas last year, me being one of them, so you never know.

And I think this SC team is better than last year's as crazy as that sounds.

IMO this is soo much more likely than SC beating OSU in title game.

I really hope there is no split title, that is ridiculous, I hated the fact that LSU got screwed out of all the glory because of PC ad his media machine in 03. I am hoping USC wins out and plays in NC, because they would have deserved the spot and I hope one of the teams beats the other soundly and we have a single NC.

USC was #1 in BOTH polls. AP and Coaches Poll. After the bowl games, the coaches poll was FORCED to vote LSU #1. AP poll was not obligated to vote LSU #1. LSU should thank the BCS system that the coaches poll was forced to vote them #1. Otherwise, LSU would have won NOTHING! Neither poll felt LSU was the #1 team in the country that year.

I wonder how it feels to be LSU knowing you only won a share of the NC because the coaches poll was FORCED to vote you #1.

No shit...what a hypocrit....that year USC was so bad in the computers (I guess it would be that SOS thing) a #1 ranking in the human polls wasnt good enough. Now, of course, the computer rankings are all knowing....

:nono: :nono: :nono:

If I remember correctly, LSU was ahead by .15 BCS pts over USC. :mj07:

If I remember correctly, USC was only 10 slots behind LSU in SOS. I think USC had a #31 ranked SOS.

That year in the BCS, AP poll, Coaches Poll and computers all carried same weight. THAT is the reason the human polls NOW carry more weight. TO prevent that $hit from happening again.

If I remember correctly, Syracuse UPSET ND that year to end the season. THAT upset cost USC the valuable BCS pts in computer SOS. Way to go IRISH!

Fact of the matter is, BOTH polls had and felt USC was the #1 team in the country that year.

or they could have played it out on the field and lsu would have beaten usc....

USC is always "suppose" to lose to SEC teams. I KNOW!

Auburn travelled to USC and travelled back home with a LOSS!

Just like USC couldn't travel to AUBURN with QB making his first career start and win? SEC HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS MY A$$!

Arkansas travels to USC and Arky players are quoted before the game saying USC would be a middle of the pack SEC team. I think USC hung 70pts on that SEC team. NOBODY IN THE SEC CAME CLOSE TO HANGING 70 ON ARKY THAT YEAR! In fact, SEC teams struggled to score on that ARKY D.That was the most pts USC scored that year. TOUGH SEC DEFENSE!

USC wins @Arkansas with QB making his first career start 50-14. SEC HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS MY A$$! Then ARKY blasts right through the SEC without a loss.

SURE LSU WOULD KICK THE CRAP OUT OF USC! THEY WON THE SEC! USC CAN'T BEAT SEC TEAMS! :142smilie

Otherwise, LSU would have won NOTHING!

You mean except for that BCS thing, you know, the Championship that counts.

No matter what poll or championship USC gets it would be deemed the most valuable by you.

The BCS is what is played for now.

Enjoy your coaches poll, fan poll, your own poll for all I care, the BCS is what counts.

I love that you are dying inside because lowly LSU has the same number of BCS Championships as the MIGHTY Trojans. :142smilie :mj07: :142smilie :mj07:

Coaches poll and AP poll are the only polls at the end of the year that count. Always has been and always will be. Maybe LSU fans are bitter that the NCAA RULES didn't FORCE the AP poll to vote LSU National Champs?

Facts are facts. Neither the Coaches Poll or AP poll felt LSU was the best team in the country the year they won a share of the National championship. LSU won a share of the championship because the coaches were FORCED to vote them #1. :(

Kinda sucks but at least LSU can feel good about sharing a National Championship with USC! USC can feel good about sharing a National Championship with LSU and knowing that both polls and majority of the media felt they (USC) were the best team in the country!

In the last 5 years.....

USC 2 AP NC's, 1 BCS NC
LSU 0 AP NC's, 1 BCS NC

I couldn't be more happy. USC is competing for National Championships EVERY YEAR, even in rebuilding years! :mj07:

Too bad LSU can't have the same success as USC. I would love to see a USC/LSU matchup. For LSU to play USC, they will have to get to the BCS NC game. That seems to be where USC plays every year. :142smilie

Scott and others:

NO ONE recognizes the AP champ because it does not matter. The AP champ carries as much weight as the Madjacks poll. This is rediculous talk because 3 years ago LSU was the champ, the next year USC, and last year Texas. USC has ONE count them, ONE national championship in the last 3 years. You can spin it all you want Scott, but the AP poll doesn't mean a damn thing once the season is over, PERIOD!:142smilie

What a STUPID post. :violin:

YOU might not recognize the AP poll. Sorry to inform you, but most of the country and media DOES recognize the AP poll. :142smilie

Here is a history lesson for you and others who are not too bright on this topic.

AP poll said from the very beginning they will NOT be forced to vote the winner of the BCS NC game #1. It is in the contract. 2nd, the AP poll said the BCS can use the AP poll in their formula.

After 2003, AP poll wanted NOTHING to do with the BCS because of the controversy. In 2003, NOBODY felt poor little LSU was the #1 team in the country. LSwho only won a National Championship because the coaches poll was FORCED to vote them #1. Coaches and AP poll BOTH had USC #1. Kinda sux to be LSU knowing that NOBODY felt they were the best team in the country the year they won a split NC. Lucky for LSU, they did not have to play USC.

You look VERY VERY foolish and uneducated by not recognizing the AP poll which has prob. been around as long (if not longer) than the coaches poll. Doesn't matter, YOU are in the minority. YOU also have no argument to support your ridiculous opinion.

Like I said........

LSU has 1 BCS NC :(
USC has 2 AP NC's, 1 BCS NC.
Texas has 1 AP NC and 1 BCS NC.

Well put Scooter, your argument is well thought out and very circular, I love circular reasoning.

The only thing you are forgetting about how dominate the 1 NC USC team has been the past three years is that the "almighty AP" was saying that last years USC team was the best ever, better then any other team ever including the 95' Huskers, well that is until the AP ate some crow and USC couldnt even beat a UT team that was led by one person on offense, and had a below average defense.

But I agree USC is diffently in a dynasty period.

Scott,

You are exactly right in that the MEDIA recognizes the AP poll. Hell, why doesn't madjack start a poll and everyone here will recognize it:mj07:

Spin it the way you want, but LSU won the title three years ago and I don't even care because I don't like them either. The BCS is what is in place, everyone agreed to go with it, so shut the hell up about the AP because it DOES NOT count. I don't like the BCS any more than you and I wish they could have played, but give it up. NO ONE cares other than you and the media geeks that vote for the damn thing.

This just in from the LA Times----

After a recount of last year's ballots, USC actually received more votes than Texas even though there was a head to head loss.

USC will now be crowned the Buy.com national championship and the parade will be help before the UCLA game on Saturday.:142smilie
