Hawaii vs. Nevada

This is a tough one to call...There are many variables first and foremost being the status og Hawaii QB Brennan, his recievers health and the weather in Reno. Line has been dropping, down to 6 at last check.
Local media here in Hawaii has Brennan listed as healthy and ready to go come gametime, although his participation in practices has been limited at best. Concerns over health of recievers Grice-Mullen and Rivers who was injured at the end of the Fresno game as they have been held out of practices also.
The gametime temperatures are said to be in the 40's which common sense will tell you works towards Nevada's favor.
I know I'm a homer, but I think Hawaii wins and covers in this one. I picked against the Warriors last week against Fresno, but this week I think they get it together. Barring a reoccurance of Brennan's concussion (anything can happen right??!) I think the offense will not be stopped. Nevada has shown little in the way of defense this season and can't see them slowing this attack. Their only shot is to get a lead, run the ball, and hope for a turnover or two. Nevada has played Hawaii tough in recent years, and nearly upset them last year at Aloha Stadium. However I feel that Hawaii cannot stumble and have a BCS slot in their sights. Look ahead to the Boise showdown next week is also a concern but I'll stick to my guns and make the call here:
Hawaii -6
Also leaning to the over. I know 78 is a big number but can make no argument for the under with this matchup!

Yeah, this looks like a really tough game to call because of the injuries....

At first I liked Nevada getting over 7 points, but if the line is under 7 I'd have to lean towards Hawaii, especially since this means most bettors are on Nevada. I may follow you on this one....if the line remains at 6 or less, I may have to put a little wager on the Warriors.

idk that the under is not playable... the SJSU game was in the 70s, but to crack the 80 mark both you can't really have any turnovers at all. i love playing the totals on my warriors (i went to UH first two years of college) and have done pretty well. UH is 3-4-0 on the total this year, i've gone 5-2 on my plays with them.

these guys know what they have to do and i think a couple of close calls will have them ready to go. they're not playing at oregon or washington, the environment's not gonna be too intimidating. i think they handle nevada by at least the TD and come in well under teh 78 total. go warriors!

First off, great post 808Warrior. Really like hearing from 'homers' perspective even if its just a bit skewed.

My .02 is that the line will get back up to seven when they announce Colt is starting. Otherwise common sense dictates that if he remains a 'kickoff decision' then the total will drop 3-4 points. So, if you like the under, Id lean on getting in now. Really dont think that it would hit 80 if/when they announce Colts status.

Dont think that the temperature is gonna have any affect on the Bows play. Ive been wrong before though.

The running game emerged for the Warriors last week in their 37-30 win over Fresno State. Hawaii rushed 24 times for a season-high 157 yards.
Kealoha Pilares is out again with a knee sprain, but junior Daniel Libre shined last week in his debut with 61 yards in six carries, and Leon Wright-Jackson had his best game so far with six carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

"Leon's gotten better every time in there. He played more physical," Jones said.

Now, on the eve of a big WAC game tonight at Nevada, Brennan has moved into a tie with former BYU star Ty Detmer for career passing touchdowns (121) and touchdowns responsible for (135).

"I haven't really thought about his (Detmer's) accomplishments," Brennan said in a teleconference Monday morning from Honolulu. "It's cool how he responded. I heard what he said about me and how he felt about his records being broken."

Right now, Brennan is more worried about his health. He suffered a mild concussion against Fresno State last weekend, and didn't practice Monday or Tuesday. He expects to play tonight.

"I haven't had any bad symptoms," Brennan said during a teleconference. "No headaches and I'm not dizzy. It was a clean shot and he got the best of me. I think I will play Friday

Thanks IX Bender! Yeah, Pilares as far as I know is a no go, but as I said last week, he is really not a player that will impact what Hawaii does play or no play. I am more concerned with the status of Rivers and Grice Mullen. Hawaii's team speed especially at reciever is vastly underrated! Those two WILL be playing on sundays next year and if they are healthy, Nevada will struggle with them. Fresno got a taste of that speed right off the bat last week, although they did adjust nicely in the second half.
