After watching replays from a dozen different angles in super slow motion, it appears that yes, Mark Buehrle did pick off Carlos Gomez in the second inning and umpire Andy Fletcher blew the call, leading to a Twins score. The blown call was the subject of the Freeze Cam, nominated as the turning point of the game, and mentioned endlessly throughout the broadcast. The simple fact is playoff teams don't let a blown pickoff call in the second inning cost a critical game.
