Geno vs Dawn:
Brianna Stewart vs Tiffany Mitchell
1 loss in 3 years vs Undefeated this year...

I think this is going to be a war and I think we see the game in the 70's. UCONN has too much firepower to be held down by the USC smothering defense and UCONN's defense will not be enough to stop all the weapons of SC.

Uconn will be favored by 10 with the total at 137?

Based on Sagarin

Based on Sagarin

Sagarin + HC would have the line coming in at 10 to 10.5. I don't believe that you can go much higher than that. SC is a very good team. I believe they can win this game.

Trying to get the picture here. #1 team is a 15 pt dog to the #2 team --at Conn--a lot of respect for the Conn program--this is women's bb and how they do it.

I bet it at 15.5

I bet it at 15.5

South Carolina: Led by guard Tiffany Mitchel.. She is the little engine that can go. She does not always lead them in scoring but she makes it go. She can penetrate and dish, shoot the jumper, and everything you want from a guard. Behind her are 2 more guards that can score, when needed, if SC decides to go small. The place where SC gets you offensively is the size and depth of the bench. They start 3 girls 6' or taller and then have 6'4" Alaina Coates (double double machine) and 6'5" Ajia Wilson (Top Frosh in the nation) coming off the bench. South Carolina is long. They are very athletic.

The part I love about South Carolina is they defend you. Once you step off the bus there is someone from SC defending you. In the years past their offense was very prone to lapses on offense where they would go 3 to 5 minutes without scoring. That problem seems to have been solved this year. If the starters are scoring then the bench mob comes in and they score.

UCONN is UCONN- they score and they are good... But how good are they really? They lost to Stanford early in the season and since then they beat Notre Dame and Duke... But they have not played anyone else. Duke has been exposed lately so that win loses a little credibility, in my eyes. I know UCONN's ratings are off the charts but they play in a very weak conference and they do not get tested. How are they going to do when they play a group of women who Dawn Staley has coached and instilled grittiness and toughness into.
Do not get me wrong. I have so much respect for Breanna Stewart and Geno but I feel like this SC team is more athletic, better defending, and frankly more talented.

My biggest concern that this game is @ Gampel. Dawn says she may take the air out of the ball... Controlling the tempo is going to be key.

UCONN played 1 team to 16 and that was St. Johns @ St. Johns 70-54. Otherwise every game has been 30+ point differential. But the AAC is not he SEC.

Depth is NO Comparison

Depth is NO Comparison

UCONN Plays 5/6 players in close games... South Carolina plays 9. Size favors SC.

Man, I have looked at this game and looked at it. If South Carolina plays South Carolina ball they will be in it with a chance to win it. If they get rattled and settle for jump shots and their defense lags then they will lose. South Carolina is more athletic, better defensively, and bigger. Going to be a dandy

Musca,

My 2 Sense

SC's best win was a buzzer beater @ Duke 51-50, who has been exposed.

ND beat Tenn by DD, was embarrassed by UCONN @ South Bend

Geno or nothing for me

I think the 1st 10 minutes will be the key-can SC hang in and cover 4' or will Conn have them on the ropes already? I am looking at that 10 minute line.:popcorn2

My one response on the UND loss at the hands of UCONN... Brianna Turner did not play that game.

hey, I do not want to persuade anyone to bet either side I just want to have open discussion. Speaking in terms of quality wins- you cannot compare the AAC to the SEC? Beating ECU does not compare to beating KY, Texas A&M, Georgia, Miss St?

Geno, at home, does not lose many of these matchups. I do believe this South Carolina team is different than past star teams. They are balanced and DEEP.

I think SC starts the game playing a SLOW game.

So, I am going to play the 1st 10 minutes under 31 very small.
I have SC +15.5 for 3*
SC +700 for 1/4*

I have in my mind the way this game goes. There is not a team that I have watched more than South Carolina and I believe that they will be able to give UCONN everything and then some.

Should be a hell of a game. I hope.

Musca,

I hope like hell u r right. I can't stand Geno & The Jets. Uconn has been beating people with defense and strong inside play. I don't know a thing about SC but if they can match Uconn's physicality and inside play they have got a chance.

I always read your posts and enjoys your thoughts

I agree with you.. the first 10 are important.. Are the lights going to be big for them or are SC going to be there?

Dawn Staley in her interview said multiple times that they will have to control tempo and take the air out of the ball. I could see UCONN jumping out to 13-5 lead and then the game gets slowed down. By half time the score is 31-28. Once we get into the second half I see South Carolina depth and defense and physicality wearing on UCONN and the lead goes back and forth. I think the game will have both teams shooting under 40%. Final score 66-61

That is how I look at the game. But if SC is making shots and Uconn is making their shots then we could get a game with both teams in the 70's but that will not be due to a fast paced game... I think it will be more due to shot making.

Interesting that 5D dropped the moneyline but raised the spread... they have also dropped the line down to -110.

lets just hope it is an enjoyable game to watch. It is, by FAR, the best game on the tube tonight.
