Gents,

Have a buddy who entered a free pool and can win $325 if:

-Green Bay wins
-Pittsburgh wins and total points are 40 or less

Now I told him to let it ride as is, but he would rather hedge to at least win something, as he is a small-scale bettor.

He suggested putting $100 on the Pitt ML to win $125.

Does anyone have some other suggestions?

its $300. tell him to man up and let it ride.
not life changing money. if he hedges he's going to pull like what.. a guaranteed 150? that's weak.

why doesnt he just put the absolute middle (162.50) on pit ml or pit +3....or shade it the appropriate way based on what he thinks will happen (you know, gambling on his preferred outcome)

gb wins by more than 3 = 325 winner - 162.50 loser = net profit 162.50
gb wins by 3 or less = 325 winner + 162.50 (or push) = net profit of 487.50 (or 325)
pit wins less than 40 points = 325 + 162.50 = 487.50
pit wins more than 40 points = 162.50 net

so he's winning either 162.50-325-487.50 with zero risk of losing money.

if he had any balls and foresight, he'd then wager 162.50 of his free future winnings on other wagers and try to hit it big......then again, that's just me.

agree with this...

pitt +3 for 162 seems like best option.....cant lose anything and has a couple chances too win both

I have a hedge question. I run a survivor pool against the spread for the playoffs, pot is $9,300 and we are down to 17, I have 2 picks left. you can pick the side or total. so the question is do I just take over and under or Pitt and GB and guarantee myself a win or pick GB/Under and then bet the opposite of one of those.
