Hey fellas,
I have a shot in the dark parlay pending with NE/over 45.5. All other plays in the parlay are in and have covered. The payout is about $8K. Being that hardly ever hedge and I can now get the total at 46, what would be the recommendations. Should I wait and see if total rises a little more for a middle. Really like this over and have since I first saw it and generally would never try and hedge. However, this is a pretty good payout and hate to lose it all. Any thought would be appreciated. I very seldom post but never fail to look at this board on a daily basis. Lots of smart cappers here that I respect. Thx for any help.

Motea,

I recommend you hedge at least at least 2k, even if you like the over on the game alot. I have found out the hard way a few times that winning something for sure is better than a possibilities of winning nothing. Also, thats quite a large sum of money. Just my 2cents, please do whatever you feel most comfortable with, because at the end, this is your money, my friend.

How do you have invested ? My answer would depend on that. I'm not a big fan of parlays, but I've always been of the opinion that if you don't want the parlay to ride out, then why parlay in the first place? The whole reason for a parlay is taking a bigger risk for a higher payout......correct..

All great points. TeeMo, I agree with your opinion on parlays in general and you are right, a parlay is supposed to be a big gamble for fun anyway. I will probably hedge a couple of grand to be safe, however, I loved this over from the start. May just let it ride!!! Thx for all the valuable input. It is appreciated.

Parlays pay no more than straight bets. They only make sense if the games start at the same time and you have a small bankroll. Its better to straight bet then you can risk whatever amount of your winnings from the first wager since the games were on 2 diff days.

always a tough decision, but i look at it like this. If it pays 8000. you probably bet around 100 i am thinking. If you walked into a casino and the sportsbook said, i will give you 4000 if you turn around right now and not play anything, you would take it right? i would. it's a nice profit for that bet. And if you feel your on the right side as mentioned above, just put a couple thousand on the other side. There is probably little chance of it going higher because there is a 40% chance of rain and that will get the public to bet the under more often. Take it for what it's worth and congrats on having that kind of problem , nice job.

How do you figure that parlays don't pay any more than straight bets ? Your book must love you.......

three football games. Bet $100 each. $300 invested. Win all three games. Win $300

three football games. $300 Parlay. $300 invested. Win all three games. Win $1908

Win first game sunday bet 110 payback 210 bet the 210 on monday night game to win 190. Total payout 400.

110 parlay pays 286 total payout 396.

So the parlay actually pays less.
