i think bgsu is gonna open as the favorite. we'll see. but i really think falcons will open as a 2 or 3 pt chalk.

i know what you mean about niu coming off a lopsided (at least on the scoreboard) win, and bgsu being lethargic vs eastern.

but i just cant see bgsu being a dog in that stadium.

we'll see.

and -- of course -- looking forward to trading info with you on this one

NIU sure looks inviting to me at +4 I dont care where the game is held.

Remember Alabama going down at home to NIU ?

one key to my understanding this game more better is how was BG able to beat Purdue ?

What was the key to that close victory ?

thanks

as far as the keys to bgsu beating purdue. as hellah alluded to, a lot of it was josh harris. his numbers in that game werent staggering (although 22 of 40 for 357 and 3 TDs passing, 19 carries for 34 yards on the ground).

although it doesnt look like he did much on the ground, hes such a threat to run the ball out of that spread offense that it just frees up their receivers and just really makes it tough on the defensive backs and linebackers.

bgsu didnt do anything super special in that purdue game. they just played a solid all-around game and basically hung around in the 2nd half and gave themselves an opportunity to win.

both teams had their moments offensively and defensively. just a pretty well played football game a month ago.

i wish i could answer your question better, perhaps with a more exciting answer saying "bgsu did this or that......"

simply put, theyre just a real solid team that is well coached and runs the spread offense to perfection.

thats what gives so many teams trouble. the spread offense is tough to defend even if you have a slow white kid back there passing the ball.

but what makes bowling green so tough is that harris has a lot of good receivers, but he is as likely to take off and run as he is to pass, and thats tough to stop

I agree that Josh Harris is a very good player. hellah10 holds him in the highest regard. But he also held Leftwich in that category last year.

But I seen that Turner guy for NI and he is top notch. They are a strong team and well coached. A team that can go into Alabama and beat them and beat Maryland early has to be playing well.

This is a tough one to call.

Will BG be able to stop NI offense ? thats my next big question.

If they can't then they could get run over.

I am liking the dog.

well mike turner can be contained. but i dont think niu wants to play catch-up with BG. This wouldnt be like being down 17-0 to Central Michigan. BG will pour it on - and do it alot. So if they get the early lead - look out...

Looks like heallah10 is going with BG and is just waiting for the line to drop.

I think he will be waiting for awhile and the movement may go against his play.

Maybe we can convince him NI is the play. He is pretty stubborn about his plays though. He could give a rats ass about what others will say, once its made up its like he is on a mission.

And alot of times if you hesitate waiting for line movement you lose.

good points. can definitely respect your take.

what makes harris special is his versatility. his arm is a cannon, and he can run. obviously- hes not superman. hes got his weaknesses. he isnt always the most accurate passer and sometimes he doesnt stay in the pocket like he should. but brandonns offense is really designed for him to roll out and use his athleticism. ive actually heard theres been some nfl scouts at some recent bgsu games and on campus. doesnt surprise me, especially given his lineage (dad was an nfl player. rams i believe?)

to your point on turner- youre absolutely right, he is solid. and i dont think bgsu is gonna be able to completely contain him. what i do think bgsu is gonna do is really load up to stop him and then dare the niu pass game to beat them- which i dont think niu can do, especially with their receiving corps being depleted.

the venue is gonna play a huge role imo. bgsu is a unique place to play. hellah isnt exaggerating when he says the winds swirl is a strange way. makes it awfully tough on oppositions sometimes. niu is well-suited for that though as theyre ground oriented. but still gonna be trouble for niu kicking game and haldi is gonna have to be sharp with his passes.

gl scotty. will be interesting to see where the line goes here.
