Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Max, 15, my best friends son (Matt who passed 3 years ago) is living at home with Mom and is flunking school.

Mom Helen, never was a strong family figure.
Dad Matt, in retrospect, was guilty of "Benign Neglect"

Important teen years 12 thru 15, he has had no serious male guidance.

So you have an immature 15 year old, flunking school, playing video games, and destined to live with Mom till he is 40.

I have gone biking with him and movies on occasion. He is a compassionate, smart kid with no direction.

I am thinking his only serious chance is a structured situation.

I have hinted at Military Schools with mom, she may be receptive.

We reside in Tulsa Ok.
so Missouri Kansas Arkansas would be natural choices.

any thoughts appreciated..

In the shadows
I have/had a troubled 13, now 14 year old son, who spent a majority of his life with his mother, older brother and sister. We have lived a great distance apart, but I always managed to see them at least 5 times a year.

He came to live with me in Feb 2011, and I found out many Disciplinary, Social and Educational failures.

I had a professional guidance counselor who pointed me in the right direction for what was best for my son.

It was. and still ongoing a multiple step process.

He is at a Boarding School now in Upper State New York, and it is quite spendy.

That is all I am will to convey about my child on a public forum.

If you would like more info, I would be happy to supply you with the names of the facilities that he has been at.

email is on my profile page or get it from El Grande Queso.

I have a few things I need to do outside of the house so I will be scotting out of here fro about an hour

I'm not up to speed on high school level military schooling, but I have always seemed to hear about good institutions like that in New Mexico.

one of the best military schools in the nation is new mexico military institue located in Roswell, New Mexico. they have kids from 14-22, middle school through college. Check it out on line. Kevin costners kid and many generals from the US military have graduated from the university. Good luck,
