Well actually not buiding it but having it built. My Brother and Sister in law are getting quotes now, we will probably wait another month or so. Question is about composite decking. This is what they are looking to get. Supposedly lasts longer, has no splinters, and never needs to be stained. Of course its more expensive. Looks weird to me, does anyone have any experience with this?
HELP :)

I have used a composite [Trex] as decking and and it worked out great. Be sure they space it as it will not shrink. I either go with composite or 2x6 pressure treated wood as oppossed to the 5/4 decking.

I live in the South where the heat and sun wears on exterior wood. I build custum decks and screen porches and particularly like the Trex on screened porches since you can but it tight and it won't shrink. Outside we space it to allow rain runoff. While it does fade a little it won't warp like wood.

I have a patio roof made out of that stuff and looks like wood, it will last longer and won't fade but it can dent so doesn't seem as resistant as wood. One of my kids put a dent with a baseball on one of the columns.
