Here is Hilliary's "brilliant plan" once again.

"Clinton criticized health insurers for steering clear of Americans with expensive, pre-existing conditions, and called for ending insurance discrimination. Under the plan, a "guarantee-issue" system would allow anyone to join an insurance plan and would bar insurers from carving out benefits or charging higher rates to people with health problems. "

Sounds good but---

I'm for it it Hilliary---I won't pay for insurance until I go to doctor and he tells me I need operation--then since its guaranteed issue and no pre existing conditions I'll take it out for month until my surgery is complete then cancel and wait till I need it again--

She won't have to bar any insurers from anything under this scenrio--they wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. What a clueless bitch.

Think she'll have any comment on litigation driving up healthcare cost ;)

--and speaking of litigators-- won't even get into Edwards "there is no war on terror" statement".

--and Obama's answer to war on terror (oops) --double foreign aid--

I just can't figure which one to vote for--:)

I'm curious, Wayne, maybe you have spoken on your views of the health care situation before, but I don't remember it directly. I do remember the incessant railing on all things Clinton, on this subject specifically. Is there a plan out there that you favor? Do you think the current system is working well?

Honest question, would like to know what you think...I've posed questions on health care before, and thought it would be a primary factor in my candidate selection this election. But I think the Iraq thing is gonna trump everything for me, the way things are going.

Your take on the Hillary plan, if that's what it is, sounds like a problem with it. I will look at it. And I agree that litigation is a huge problem, and has to be addressed as a part of the overall plan.

Chad I really don't see any solutions and no quick fixes. The biggest increase on cost I've seen comes from testing--scans in particular--they are outrageous. --and reason for expanded use is two fold--paying off these high priced machines and Dr's running every test under the sun to avoid missing something and getting sued. Not uncommon to see providers with contracts with insurance carriers having to write off 50% or more of charges as excess--however those without insurance or out of network have to pay full cost --with we refer to as cost shifting.

Was not long ago routine physical for me was around $250 and last one was about $700. Office visit was same price but lab work and test were up there.

I told this story back when it occurred but will recap briefly.
Back when hilliary 1st had plan our gov in KY implemented some of same things in intial thread--within months every health carrier except anthem pulled out of KY.

We had people moving from all over the U.S. to ky--after they were here 60 days the were eligible for coverage with no waiting periods--if you came in office you paid same price as someone your age with terminal aids.

Needless to say most of reforms were withdrawn in short order--as one carrier even with statewide monopoly couldn't remotely stay solvent under the quidelines--as there were few healthy insured to offset cost of unhealthy.

One aspect that could lower cost that Hilliary spoke of as well as many other politicians is paperless system--both sides been promising it for years to no avail.

Many folks when told they need operation need it with in days. If heart in hours. Many never leave hospital to go buy anything. They could make it work. Now what I want to see is insurance companies stand up and give those that take care of them self. Eat right so weight is good. Don't smoke. Exercise Can pass stress test. Get 100% coverage instead of these dam high deductibles. The insurance companies keep wanting it both ways in there pocket.
