I was talking to one of my buddies today, and he's gotta be in Vegas for work for a couple days later this week. I asked him where he was staying, and he said they needed to be near the north end or off the strip because of where they have to be for work, so they decided to stay at the Las Vegas Hilton. I asked him what made them chose that place, and his response was, "Well, I didn't really care which of the places we stayed, but I watched the Paris Hilton video last night and thought of that when I saw Las Vegas Hilton, so I decided to stay there."

Is my friend just a bit odd, or do you think that this "negative" publicity over the famous sex tapes could actually be helping the Hilton chain?

one of the oldest axioms in the field of media and communications:

even bad publicity is still publicity.

not hilton-related, but on the same kind of topic -- even annoying commercials serve their purpose. they create indelible jingles and slogans in your mind.

but yeah- i think being able to associate a "face" with the hilton chain can only benefit that family in the long run.
