The golf world is a strange one. This weeks Honda Classic features the top 10 favorites as non-Americans. You can't place 1 US guy in the top 10? Strange. For betting purposes, I don't care where a golfer lives, I just thought it was a weird anomoly. I can't honestly remember a PGA tournament where that was true. Ever.

Kim, Rollins, Howell, and Fowler all at 40-1 are 11 through 14 this week. These four guys. These guys are the best American born golfers signed up this week. Pathetic. I realize it's one week before a WGC event, and the big guns from around the world are warming up this week, to get ready for the next. I guess the USAers don't need to warm up. Almost all of them are going to Puerto Rico nrxt week anyway.

These guys jumped out at me while capping this week. Betfair prices. Yang 33-1, Allenby 16-1, Jacobson 150-1, Maggert 370-1, Every 190-1, and Snedeker 65-1. Some favorites some longshots here. Why is Maggert in this group? He almost certainly won't win. He's a good golfer, he can throw a 65 at you any time. If he throws two 65's at you, you're gonna get your moneys worth of thrills. Some guys, it's just impossible to win, that's not true with Maggert. Yang is the defender, but I think he's tired. I don't think Allenby is the golfer he was last year. Every is the joker here, a bonafide wild card. Snedeker, hot and cold, hottish right now. My pick this week---

Frederick Jacobson 126.00 SIA

He did good here last year, and he's a very good golfer all the time. He prefers to play the PGA Tour, just like Justin Rose, and it shows in his game. Isn't he a journeyman? Yes. That doesn't mean he can't win. The odds are way out of whack here. He should be in the 60-80 range. I like him. I like his game too.

Howell 40-1 win, 20-1 place, 10-1 show

Piercy 60-1 win, 30-1 place, 15-1 show

Ames 60-1 win, 30-1 place, 15-1 show

Haas 80-1 win, 40-1 place, 20-1 show

I hate betting on Ames, as I think he is such a jackass, but as we say in Texas, "this is strickly bidness!"

good luck to all!

Round 1 play (2pts):

Lee Westwood to beat Graeme McDowell -105 @ Five Dimes and WSEX [also available @ Stan James and Pinnacle]
Not sure why Five Dimes and WSEX make McDowell the favourite in this matchup (Pinnacle favour Westwood slightly and Stan James very strongly). This is a matchup between the #4 and the #49 in the World Rankings and their h2h record supports such a decisive difference in their rankings: Westwood has finished ahead of McDowell in 13 of their last 15 common events. With both players making their debut on this course, there is little to point to favouritism on McDowell's part.

[unofficial rd1 system plays: Villegas tb Casey +120; Westwood tb Casey +115]

J B Holmes over Steve Marino -110

Generally I like to keep my match-ups limited to the guys I concentrate on for the week. Neither of these guys are in the featured column for this week, but.... My book really doesn't have a bunch of M/U's to choose from, usually 10 or 12.

Holmes has been my go to guy for a month now, and I'm doing OK with him. Marino was a go to guy last year for me, and I like him too. The deciding thing is that Holmes has his dial set one half a notch higher than Marino. This year---JB, a million bucks, Marino, a half a million.

As in last week, I wanted to fade Boo again this week, but no M/U listed.

Lee Westwood has a ligament strain in his right knee and may not tee it up at this week's Honda Classic.
The injury occurred last Thursday when Westwood was putting on a boot. "If the tournament started [Tuesday] I probably won?t be able to play," he said. "I strained my medial ligament and it?s seven to 10 days for a Grade 1 strain." He was decide on his start today but he remains in the published field at PGATour.com. After the Honda, his next scheduled start is at next week's WGC-CA Championship

Anyone know if it's supposed to get windier later in the afternoon?

I am thining of taking Snedeker ov Holmes. He tees off an hour earlier and tees off on the back first, Holmes tees off on 1 so he will be coming to the bear trap late in the day, with higher winds making it more difficult?
