No surprise here. UAlbany coach Will Brown says that junior guard Peter Hooley will be in the starting lineup when UAlbany steps on the Nationwide Arena floor against Oklahoma Friday night.

?He?s arguably the best guard in our league,? UAlbany coach Will Brown said Thursday before the Danes? mandatory practice at the arena. ?It?s just that I think now is a good opportunity to get him back in the starting lineup. We?re going to see a lot of pressure from Oklahoma early and often. It?s another ball handler on the floor.?

Hooley was the starter and leading scorer for the Danes before he left the team on Jan. 17 and missed a month to be with his mum. Sue, who passed away from colon cancer on Jan. 30 in Australia. He missed eight games. Since returning, he has averaged 12.2 points per game. He made the game winning shot when the Danes beat Stony Brook 51-50 in the America East championship game.

Hooley will replace sophomore Dallas Ennema in the starting lineup. Ennema took over Hooley?s spot when he left for Australia.

?It doesn?t change much for me,? Hooley said. ?Even when I came off the bench, my game was still the same. It just means I start out a little earlier.?

Oklahoma doesn?t want to be next upset victim

Don?t think that the Oklahoma basketball players don?t know that what has been going on during the first day of the NCAA tournament.

The Sooners have seen two of their Big 12 brothers ? Iowa State and Baylor ? get upset in the NCAAs. Both of those teams were No. 3 seeds and got beat by No. 14 seeds. Notre Dame, the other three seed to play Thursday, barely got by No. 14 Northeastern.

Oklahoma is the final three seed. The Sooners get No. 14 UAlbany Friday night here.

?I hope they already knew nothing was going to be easy,? Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger said Thursday before the Sooners? open practice at Nationwide Arena Thursday. ?If they didn?t, I guess this (Thursday upsets) would reinforce that they?ve got to be ready and battling every possession and respect the opponents. I know our guys definitely respect Albany and how good they?ve been.?

Kruger said after watching film. there is not one player on the UAlbany roster that he thinks he has to stop. He didn?t mention anyone by name.

?They have several,? he said. ?I don?t know them as well as you might. It seems like at different times during the year, different individuals have stepped up and made big plays. We?re not looking at just one guy.?
