HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 11 p.m.

*** THE POST TIME MAY BE INCORRECT, I DON'T SEE THE RACES STARTING AT 11 AT NIGHT? ***

Race 1 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $12,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Lovely Lolly - Dead late closer ran a much improved race in last; most of these look pretty sad.

Imadethecashcall - Logical chalk appears to be lone early speed; Christian Reyes must nurse her energy.

Long Shot - Platinum Stiletto

Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $38,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Rising Honour - Good second to a next out winner in Michael's Rose; will be overlooked with short favorite.

Devine Actress - Logical chalk ran super in career debut; stretches out and must not bounce either.

Long Shot - Damini

Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $11,000, Claiming $10,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Da Bomb - First start off the claim by Bill Spawr; been well bet, need not be much to handle these.

Subpoena the Dress - Big class drop makes her a danger if she has four legs; like Joel Rosario up.

Long Shot - Wada Falls

Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

Quoted - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; main man Gomez is up.

Halo's Law - Good second in last, fast enough to upset these; note top jocks are riding in maiden claiming races.

Long Shot - Mr. Bossy Pants

Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $38,000, Allowance, 3-year-olds and up

Jeranimo - Good run last time off a 6-month hiatus; dead late closer will always need pace to chase.

Black Wolf - Speedball will try and steal under Alex Solis; second start off a 13-month sabbatical.

Long Shot - Spirit of Cochise

Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 20 feet), Purse $38,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up

Universal Peace - Interesting that Joel Rosario got off live mounts to ride B's Lucky Strike; uncoupled Drysdale entry.

Sir Ben - Was hindered by a slow pace in last; saves all the ground, will rally hard under Garrett Gomez.

Long Shot - B's Lucky Strike

Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $40,000, Optional claiming $40,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Suit Yourself - Off slow in last and never had a chance; return to 2-turns, and Gomez, will only help his cause.

Pinstripe Kid - Stretch out candidate from fast sprints; key will be if he challenges Dirty dish Mitch.

Long Shot - Unbridled Story

Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $16,000, Maiden claiming $32,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds

Moonskipper - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much.

Heavens a Raging - Big rider switch to Joel Rosario for the money shot; expect a much improved effort.

Long Shot - Private Valentine

Best Bet - Universal Peace (race 6)

Hollywood Wednesday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/4/$28.40; Long Shots, 8/1/$9.40; Best Bet, 1/0/$0

Hollywood Totals - 147/38/$241.20; Long Shots, 74/8/$86.80; Best Bets, 8/3/$11.80

SIMULCAST PICK OF THE DAY - #3 Sorority Sister (5/1) in race 5 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Wednesday, The West Rim ran out at Aqueduct. Stats - 174/125/$962.80

At the Gate - Thursday

At the Gate - Thursday

The feature today at the Big A is the $100,000 Highweight Handicap (G3), and if jockeys want to hit the buffet before the race, it won?t be a problem.

Horses will be carrying from 123 to 134 pounds, with the likely favorite Go Go Shoot the top weight in the ten horse field.

The four year old gelding is part of a entry sent out by the Repole Stable. Since trainer Bruce Levine took over the training duties back in April, the gelding has won two stakes and popped a 109 Beyer not once but twice.

The gelding figures to bounce back off his fourth place finish in the Vosburgh (G1), but the price may end up on the light side.

I am going to go with the up and coming Sean Avery, who beat first level allowance company in his last start for trainer Mike Hushion.

The action gets underway early this morning, with a first post at Aqueduct of 11:25 am ET. The nine race card concludes at 3:10pm ET, which will give me about twenty minutes to make the drive to the in laws.

Enjoy the holiday and don?t forget there is some outstanding racing throughout the holiday weekend.

Here is today's opening race from Aqueduct to get our day off to a good start:

AQU Race 1 Clm $16,000 (11:25 ET)
#1 Debbie's Fast Girl 5/1
#4 Choosing 7/2
#6 Elena's Princess 2/1
#9 Double Dinghy Day 6/1

Analysis: #1 Debbie's Fast Girl stalked the early pace form the inside and finished evenly when angled out in the stretch in a fourth place finish against $25K claimers. The runner up #6 Elena's Princess came back to beat $16K claimers in her next outing on Nov. 8. The filly is a four time winner on turf and has done some of her best work over ground with some give to it, which we should see again today. The turf course was listed as yielding for yesterday's card. She beat state bred Alw-1 foes four back over soft footing four back. I like the jock switch to Prado and the 5/1 ML looks fair enough.

#4 Choosing made a good late rally to finish in the runner up spot last out behind the loose on the lead gate to wire winner #6 Elena's Princess. She looks to be heading back into good form here as she makes her third start for the Jacobson barn, who claimed her for $25K back in August. She has landed in the exacta in 6 of 8 trips this year.

Wagering
WIN: #1 to win at 3/1 or better.
EX: 1,4 / 1,4,6,9
TRI: 1,4 / 1,4,6,9 / 1,4,6,9,10,13

Today's Featured Race of the Day from Aqueduct:

AQU Race 8 Fall Highweight Hcp G3 (2:42 ET)
#3 Sean Avery 9/2
#1 The Roundhouse / #1a Go Go Shoot 5/2
#9 Greenspring 5/1
#6 Ah Day 6/1

Analysis: #3 Sean Avery gets the call and I like the equine version much better than I like the hockey player. The gelding takes on stakes company for the first time here after a sharp Alw-1 score last out off a two month break. The gelding should get a good tracking trip sitting off what likely is going to be a sharp early pace. He is getting ten pounds from the likely favorite and still appears to have some upside potential.

#1a Go Go Shoot has run huge twice since Levine took over the training duties, popping a couple of 109 Beyers winning the Longfellow and running second in the Vanderbilt (G2). The gelding set the early fractions and had nothing left late last out in the Vosburgh (G1). He faces an easier group here and looks tough if he can shake loose. His entrymate #1 The Roundhouse will be one of the late closers. We have lost a few bucks on this guy since he ran a good third in the Churchill Downs 'Cap (G2) back in May, winning just 1 of 6 since that outing.

#8 Greenspring beat Alw-3 optional claimers last out at Laurel Park and ships in from Maryland for a sharp barn in Grove. Hard to knock a guy that has won 4 of 5 but he really did not beat much last out while earning a solid fig. If his price drifts up a few points he will be more attractive.

Wagering
WIN: #3 to win at 3/1 or better.
EX: 1,3 / 1,3,6,9
TRI: 1,3 / 1,3,6,9 / 1,3,6,8 / 1,3,6,8,9

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.

Aqueduct
R3: #2 Missing Blue / #2b Angelic Aura 20/1
R4: #4 Good Karma 10/1
R4: #1 Really Somebody 15/1
R5: #1 Ouchy Night 8/1
R6: #4 My Friend Sandy 15/1
R7: #4 Too Amenable 10/1
R7: #6 Beneath the Crown 20/1

Good luck today!
