Almost every hotel/casino in Vegas has wireless now, problem is they actually charge you to use it:scared

I am pretty sure (not positive) the following have FREE wireless........

Super 8
New York-New York Hotel & Casino
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Planet Hollywood Resort

venetian has free wifi in the casino area and their sportsbook also has free wifi. great place to watch games and have several happy hours each day just check with bar at sportsbook for happy hour times as I cannot remember times. last year you could deposit 500.00 with the sportbook (operated by cantor gambling) and get a seat with tv every day and you could also bet on the tv with the money you deposited.

not sure about this year as have 2 week trip planned for 1st 2 weeks of football season.

Can you use an I-pad in the sportsbook?

Hotels, motels or other businesses in Las Vegas that provide FREE (to either guests or customers) internet access. They don't charge you for that.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
"free wifi" can mean one or all of three things:

unsecured free wifi (available to anyone on the premises - guests and visitors, no password required)
"free wifi" (available without charge to guests, or included in the resort fee - which is mandatory for those who didn't get the room comped)
password protected free wifi (counter clerk will give you password after you buy some food, coffee, pastry, etc)

for example, last time I was in Las Vegas, I had free wifi at my motel (I was given password upon check in), I sometimes used the free wifi at the coffee shop down the street, and sometimes the coffee shop inside Orleans Casino (both those coffee shops the clerk serving you the coffee would provide the password)

And I hung out with drinking+betting buddies all afternoon a few days each week in the sports/race book at Red Rock Casino - with my laptop plugged in on a desk in the racebook side, slurping up the free unsecured wifi available property wide...

The trick is to find that unsecured free wifi you can just tap in at will, don't have to ask anyone for any password. You just start using it....naturally, this free wifi was the most scarce. A few years ago on the Strip, it was almost non-existent. A few little spots here and there...Like Venetian and Wynn sports books....the McDonald's by Harrah's -- and the new McDonald's up the strip has a circular counter with bar stools, wifi, and power outlets at every seat!

but times are changing, for example, I read article over a year ago:

MGM Resorts offering free Wi-Fi at Las Vegas casinos

The Bellagio is among eight MGM Resorts International casinos on the Las Vegas Strip that will be offering free Wi-Fi

There will be no fee or password required to access the wireless local area network (LAN) via smart phones, laptops and tablets.

"No one else in Las Vegas, and even the U.S., can offer the scale, quantity and quality of wireless services we now have available," John Bollen, vice president of technology strategy for MGM Resorts, said in a statement.

Those wanting more bandwidth may buy upgrades. Hotel guests will receive the faster service as part of their stay.

MGM and Cisco have already added the system to public areas at the Bellagio, the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and the Mirage. The Wi-Fi service is scheduled to be added this year at the Monte Carlo, New York-New York, the Luxor and the Excalibur.

but I see similar article appearing 7 months later promising the same thing...hummmmm..

Folks report Mirage has unsecured network resort-wide now, but so slow it's almost unusable.

At some casino/resorts that is a problem. Harrah's tests out as one of the worst in the city:

Harrah's Hotel and Casino Las Vegas
Paid WiFi
Expected speed: 0.14 Mbps
Maximum: 0.27 Mbps

The Venetian was #2. look at these speeds!

Paid WiFi
Expected speed: 32.6 Mbps

Golden Nugget, Excalibur and Palace Station came in strong enough to mention on 1st page of Las Vegas locations at this wifi test site

one list here shows several properties that appear to have unsecured wifi networks all over.

with more folks hitting data limits on cell phones, wanting wifi for tablets, and more online gaming options being offered in Las Vegas by the casinos - better free wifi is definitely the future of Las Vegas!
