I know they are playing good ball and this is just one game, but how as a manager do you let your starter after sitting through and hour rain delay and with 100+ pitches and down one stay in the game. You know tigers have no closer and the bullpen has been shakey. Can maybe anybody give me insight as to why after an hour rain delay you would let your pitcher throw over 100 pitches. Seems to me like they were trying to get him a win rather than win the fuking ballgame. I could be wrong but i thought poor coaching.

I'm not going to even try to get into Ozzie's head and attempt to defend him. But I will say, he and Garcia have more than just a pitcher/mgr relationship. Ozzie has a tendency to stick things out with his starters too long, such as last nights debacle, but he also is now family with Garcia in real life. Ozzie was a strong reason why Garcia came here and signed quickly without even hearing offers from other teams. During a game, if things are not going so well for Garcia, Ozzie, not the pitching coach, will go out to the mound for a short motivational session, and this works more often than not. Garcia has a strong tendency to not locate his fastball and today they were facing a strong hitting Detroit lineup. Ozzie was more than likely in contact with Garcia during and after the rain delay. They know each other well and he stuck it out with him. You also got that whole Spanish thing going on were nobody going to show weakness or admit maybe they don't have it. Like I said, Ozzie does a lot of things during games out of the ordinary, and sticking with his starters way too long at times is one of them. He may not have a ton of confidence in his pen right now with the demotion of Shingo, the current injury status of Hermanson, and the possible use of Marte in trade (a lot of talk). He also has seen his team come back regardless of the score, and that may well could have happened today with the day game at the Cell.

One thing about Ozzie, he calls them as he sees them and will stand up for all his decisions. Hopefully I can hear what was going on in his head today during tomorrow's pre-game show interview.

BTW
I played Detroit and the Over. Garcia is not the pitcher you want facing these hot Detroit bats right now. Dye was out the last couple games prior, Crede is playing hurt, Thomas and Konerko are in a big funk, and the pitching woes I detailed above.
