Parcells deserves all the blame for this loss in my opinion. He played way too conservatively in the 4th Q. In particular, putting in their 3rd-string RB and running 3 times straight up the middle for no apparent reason, and then settling for the FG to make it 13-0. Hell they were 3rd and 14 and he runs it up the middle for a 2 yard gain....why?? He made no attempt whatsoever to punch it into the endzone. Apparently he either thought the game was in the bag and it didn't matter, or he was extremely scared of throwing an INT.

But the latter theory doesn't really make sense to me. I mean, if he's terrified of the INT, would he not also be terrified of a fumble? If so, why put in your rookie RB, a kid who is playing in his first game in front of the home crowd, who went to high school in Irving, and give him the ball every time? Would he not be just about the most-likely person on the team to be nervous and screw up?

I really think Bill just fell asleep at the wheel here.

:iagree:

I'm going to give a little credit to Gibbs and his defense. They played a great defense against Da' Boys whose game plan featured the running game of Jones. Gibbs forced Dallas to beat them through the air and Parcells didn't bite on it. Therefore the game was a defensive struggle from the onset. The Cowboys let Washington hang around too long with conservative play calling and the Redskins got "lucky".
