HOW DOES THE RAINOUT EFFECT THE YANKS/DET?

I am trying to get a read on how the rainout will effect both of these teams. I liked Detroit tonight but tomorrow I think it may be a different story. Verlander, who was already nervous, now has to think about this start for another day. On the other hand, the Yanks are at home and are comfortable being that they are veterans and know how to keep cool in situations like this. However, I don't know how the yankees will fill the stadium tomorrow being that most people have not made plans for this and maybe the stadium wont be rocking as loud as usual. Want to here everyone's thoughts.

Big disadvantage for the Tigers, Verlander was pumped and ready to go tonight, now he has to sleep on it, think about it, and get himself into gameday mode early again tomorrow. Moose is a vet, this shouldn't effect him at all. I liked the Tigers tonight as well, now not so much. On top of it the Yankees have a great record at Yankee stadium in day games. Going to need to make a last minute decision on this game tomorrow.

Gotta think this sets up for a perfect opportunity for the Tigers to steal one in the Bronx, Verlander has better day numbers than Mussina and the line is way off.

What record do the Yanks have in day game at Yankee stadium this season? Verlander is solid in day games?

6-2 2.78 ERA during day, Yanks have the best record in the league, I imagine that they are good anytime they play, day or night.

Something about those day games at Yankee stadium though, seems like they always blow their opponents away. I was feeling real confident the Tigers could steal one tonight, especially with the rain delay. Can Verlander keep focused and come out strong early will tell it all.

What's Moose's day game numbers at Yankee stadium this year?

Yankee players didn't want to play after the rain delay.

When it appeared that the game would start, Mussina said the Yankees objected.

"Quite a few of us said, 'This is crazy. You're going to mess up the whole series,' " he said. "We'd play a couple innings and then get rained out, then we've got to go play again tomorrow and it's just better this way. Even if it stopped raining 10 minutes from now it's better this way."
During the regular season, games usually continue through rain of that magnitude. At 9:55 p.m., even though it wasn't raining, the grounds crew picked up the bases and put the tarp back on, and indication no ball would be played.

At 11:15, by the way, the hard rain and lightning finally came.

Mussina is 3-3 with a 2.53 ERA in day games at Yankee stadium? The Bullpen must have a lot of blown saves in those games.

Always fun seeing Kyle Farnsworth coming into the game.

Agree with ya KG, think tigers lost any spark they may have had going into tonight. Like quite a few professional athletes have said over the years....there's nuthin like going "home" in a familiar setting and keeping your normal routine. Think that oddly enough plays an effect here especially when you gotta rookie for the Tigers making his first playoff start, in Yankee stadium to boot, laying aroung waiting all night in an unfamiliar setting and any routine he got going into tonight away from the game is gone or prolonged now while the crafty vet moose doesn't miss a beat and is most likely thrilled they didn't start the game cause if it delayed again he probably wouldn't have been able to go back out, at least not in prime form.

Think this took alot spark outta the tigs looking for revenge. Who knows though it will be interesting to see how they respond. Can't lay my money on them now though like I was tonight.
