I try to keep an objective viewpoint but how on earth does Willingham keep his job. I cant see this program getting any better since he arrived. Do you think the ND brass has just decided that being average is ok now???????

If he were to get fired, all hell would break loose. Sharpton, Jackson, Naacp would all speak out. Only way they could do it would be to hire another black coach.
i am not sure it is all ty's fault. this program has been going down for the last decade. it cannot recruit like it did several yrs. ago. ty may not be a great coach, but he is not the only coach to have his @ss whipped by the trojans this yr.jmo
if you watched the game tonigt, ND was pretty much controlling USC in the 1st quarter....talent on the field looked pretty even in my eyes....where ND really gets beat up is coaching adjustments....USC made them and ND again did not. Ty is not the man for ND....he was avg. at stanford and he is nothing more than avg. at ND. By the way, for all who say ND doesn't have talent, their roster is filled with parade all-americans and players who were recruited by all of the "big boys" so that doesn't float with me....that is nothing more than an excuse for those who are trying to deflect the real problem here which is Ty and his ability to coach!! I would take my chances that Urban Meyer could take the talent on ND's roster and do something with it....but ND will probably be too scared to fire Ty because the race card would be played immediately by the black activists and other members in the media who hold Ty in such high regard despite the chit job he is doing. I guarantee if this was a white coach, he would be catching it from Wilbon, Winslow, Mark May, etc...but these guys are saying that Ty is on the right track and to give him more time...wonder why

Its only my opinion but I think from the very start Willingham was a bad hire......his teams at Stanford never played defense and he has continued that trend at ND.............Wonder what Lou Holtz would have done the last few seasons with ND's so called lack of talent???????
part of tonights game was coaching. they were running the ball down USC's throats, than on a 3rd and 1, he decides to pass, give me a break. that call didn't make any sense. they should of thrown the ball deep more often. what else does ND have to play for. they could of done alot of play action.
mav, i can see your frustration. i am not saying ty is a good or bad coach. it is in my opinion that the program is not what it once was. nd has suffered bad losses this year, but this is not new. on another thought, how was the irish nation after the comeback win against michigan ? i am no fan of nd and i do not watch enough of their games to be an expert. i just do not think vince lombardi could have coached a victory against usc tonight with this nd team.

Forget about tonights game............what I am talking about is judging his body of work at ND for the last 3 yrs...............and look where they are headed.............I think its rather obvious...........I didnt have a bet on tonight game so I could care a less about the outcome..............but with the material ND can get Willingham is underachieving to say the least.........
