This is what I've been doing after basically breaking even all season...
I don't bet on the first game of any series. I bet against the winner on game two. If they win, no more bets on that series. If they lose, bet on them to not get swept. I don't double the bet, just bet incrementally more on the third game of the series. I do this on 90% of the games. So far, my account has just been going up and up.
I really think that if one has the discipline to do this the entire season you can make some decent money.
