Kansas City area for who knows how long....
there are many threats, but Iraq is the most immediate geopolitical one. If Saddam gets nukes, he'd hold the whole place hostage---that Gulf War would never had be fought if he had nukes then, and we'd be acceding to all his wishes now.

CIA estimates he's 4 years away from nukes. Just an estimate. In 1992 They estimated 3 years and UN inspectors discovered he was 6 mos to a year.

Al Queda is an ongoing threat, and are being dealt with daily around the globe in many ways. Some, such as that drone killing several in Yemen a few months back, we do hear about. other times.....

if you go to any grocery store in this town we have taxpayer paid police in every store......not private security....money was drained from CIA to local police forces during the 90's....as a result, human intelligence is nothing like it used to be in the 60's-80's......

we used to be a leg up on the russian/german/japanese superintelligence.....now we can't even figure out what these arab stone age people are doing.....

start from within....

start from within....

From Elizabeth?s initial reaction to Darcy in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, to the Wife?s portrayal in THE WIFE OF BATH, and even in some of the poetry we have read, one of the prevailing themes that we have encountered in this year?s required readings is that things are not always as they seem. Characters are often wrongly judged by one?s initial reaction. This is the first thing that came to mind after watching Michael Moore?s film documentary entitled BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE. However, in this case, Moore shows the audience how the media and the U.S. government attempts to reveal themselves only in the best light possible. A clear depiction of propaganda at its finest!
BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE focuses in on several key issues such as gun control in the U.S., the Columbine High School massacre, the murders in the U.S. as compared to the rest of the world, and some of the differences between the U.S. and Canada. The most compelling issue Moore touches upon is the number of overthrown governments around the world that the Americans have been directly responsible for. It was quite interesting to learn that men such as Manuel Noriega (the former president of Nicaragua), the Shah of Iran, and yes, even Osama Bin Laden, just to name a few, were in fact supported by the U.S. government in one way or another at some point in time. These same men turned against the U.S. and are now portrayed as being ?evil?. It is quite ironic that the American government never discloses their involvement. Obviously, it is not in their best interest to do so. However, the facts do remain. They are essentially responsible for their own acrimony due to their own self-serving methods.
BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE is also comedic genius at its finest! Michael Moore attempts to debunk the myth that Torontonians never lock their doors. In attempting to do so, he finds that the opposite is true. His encounters with the startled homeowners are hilarious. He even thanks this older Italian gentleman for not shooting him. Moore does some research and finds that the difference in the murder rates between Detroit and Windsor are phenomenal. While interviewing one of Windsor?s high-ranking policemen, it is disclosed that the city has had one murder in the last three years. Quite a far cry when compared to Detroit, where murders are in the hundreds. The funniest thing about this scene is that the one murder that occurred in Windsor, was in fact, committed by someone from Detroit using a stolen gun from Minnesota!
Michael Moore shows how the availability of guns has a direct connection with the number of murders in the U.S. The discrepancy between the numbers when comparing the U.S. to the rest of the world is incredible. Societal and economic factors are also analyzed by Moore, only to find out that these can be discounted, simply because they are the same in most countries. Clearly, having a faction such as the NRA wielding such strong support in America speaks volumes about the problem of guns in that society. BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE offers no solution to the problems. Instead, Moore attempts to educate his audience. As a filmmaker, he succeeds in his goal. After all, knowledge is power!

Doc you could be right. On the other side of that story. It seems no money or plenty of it does not matter. By that i mean first 9/11 report out this week. Our CIA and FBI had ideas what might be going on. Problem neither talked to each other. It's sad to know 9/11 may have been caught just in time. We will never know for sure becasue of this lack of communications. Money was not the problem. Idealist in each agency was. In my city that plan to put more police on the street. Thats what we did we were able to hire three more officers. We are happy to have them. We have had more drug arrest last 8 years then ever before. We also were able to swing our officers time to give more cover at our two high schools. Simply put this program has worked well for us.

England, u.k.
The USA's and Britains biggest enermy is themselves.

Each supports the other on Iraq and others.

If the witch hunting continues then the rest of the world will say enough is enough and then we both will have far to many enermies.

We both have failed in the eyes of the world in bringing down Iraq and Al Quada. Yet we persist.

With two of the strongest nations unable to shift two minows the other leaders of militry strength must be rubbing their hands.

I'm sorry but both our militry's mean shit to the rest of the world. Iraq claim a victory because the might of America was unable to bring this country to a stand still.

If you want to win bomb the whole lot so nothing moves. Until such time are biggest enermy are our own leaders Bush and Blair.

We lost alot of people in North Korea because of the people in charge of the war. If we went to war with them today it would be a total ass whoopen. China wouldn't want to get involved this time and we wouldn't have stupid liberals micromanaging the war.

As for Saddam, he is not different than Hitler. Quit trying to appease him. If appeasment were the correct policy we would all be speaking German. The majority of muslims don't hate us, you only hear the voices of the radical minority that do. Do you really think that the Iraqi people love being dirt poor with hardly any rights. It's a travesty that a land with so many resources makes all of it's citezens suffer outside of the military and politcal figures. what happened when we destroyed the taliban, the AFghan people were dancing in the streets. They were finally free from oppression. The Iraqi people are going through the same thing. There is even a pro american movement in Iran, 70 percent of the population there is pro american and would like to have the massaud overthrown.

Sorry if it seems I am rambling but I can argue politics all day.

You bring up Hitler a lot Stewy. I wonder why someone in our govenment didn't say some day. I bet we would have been better off letting Germany keep France and few those other countries. Then we would not have had all these problems last 50 years. Sounds like something said just a week ago. Dont believe it was a liberals. N Korea only problem is not that we would kick there butt. But it's to late for most our 37 thousand soldiers if that dum ass running NK decides to throw 3 or 4 nukes first into the South. So NK can be a much bigger problem then Iraq. As for the NK war. You need to understand America was sick of war. The wounds of WW II had not even healed yet. Our Generals were hoping to get out of that as fast as possiable. It did not work. Something like why did we spend 15 years in VN. Somethng like we had WW I. But learned nothing from it. Like 1991 Bush senior packing it in 3 or 4 days to soon. That 1991 pack it in early reminds me of Korea. No Liberals cant have all the glory they get to share it with the Conservatives.
