Maybe someone here has brought this up already....

The stations have been dropping the price at the pump for a month or two now. How can Bush (and Cheney) miss this opportunity to continue to make monster money on an entire conspiracy they created long ago? Why stop now when you are a lame duck administration? There have been billions lost by not keeping the price up like you planned from the start! :sadwave:

Heh. I agree that Bush as total orchestrator of all matters on the planet Earth was never the case...

But, that begs the question: who DOES control oil prices?

Demand has gone down between 1-10% this year over 2007. But the price has gone down 50-75%.

Doesn't make sense to me.

it's easy. The big guys make money on the way up and on the way down. When it is going down they are shorting it. Not too hard to figure out really

So all the oil companies (Exon etc) and the billionaires involved in the industry that the Bush family has "known" are now shorting their own product instead of "keeping" prices high and continuing record profits till the end of the Bush Presidency?

Seems like pretty easy question.

Yes.
It can't just go up. At some point it peaks. Then they short the crap out of it to bring it down justas artificially as they brought it up. Then, when they are ready. They will bring it back up.

"the bunker"
shouldn`t we be bitching about all the oil company profits now?....

it`s the economy...the world economy...,obviously...it all goes hand in hand....

the one tghing that will make prices jump again is if opec cuts back on production....

"the big guys".......lol

if you guys weren`t politically blind you`d understand that the one way to stabilize "our" oil prices would be for "us" to produce more of our own...

but that would interfere with the left`s ridiculous green agenda, which is a joke because the rest of the industrialized non-western economies could give a shit about the"green" hoax....

they keep producing....we keep getting weaker...

i love the way that the environmental bullshit line changes every decade or two...it started out as "global cooling"....then it morphed into "global warming".....well,that`s not working...so we`ll just call it "climate change" and cover all our bases....

it`s a great scam...with guys like gore making millions with his fairy tale carbon credits scheme....

you can`t make this stuff up....

Good post, IE. Lots of kooks around these parts, but they're mostly silent on this subject now.

IMO, the main reason the price of oil - and gas - has come down so dramatically is the rise in the relative value of the dollar, which has been pretty dramatic the past three months or so. Since the topic and gist of the original post was to try to remove responsibility of Bush and his associations oil profiteering, the simple fact that the people he put in positions to affect the value of the dollar helped them profit for years, and can't continue it forever. The value of the dollar has been historically low, which has made the cost of oil historically high - and Bush and Co have profited to unheard of levels, through this and the legislation they pushed through in their first days in office. Now that they have made their money and are moving on, common sense would show most that their work here is done.

Make no mistake - the entire situation remains in large part due to George Bush and the administration. Now that their powers have been usurped, of course they won't continue to profit as handsomely. But boy, they sure did for a long time, didn't they? Lame duckiness enters most areas of a Presidency - this is just another example.

I'm surprised they let the free market take over so soon. What took over a year to run up. Came down way to easy in less then 100 days. Cheneys secreat energy plan worked well for a few rich guys.
