Very simple and don't argue this point Class of race means every thing.

NO matter how fast your chosen horse is at lower class races he will not perform same at higher class level of races!

I have argued this with countless gamblers at the tracks who use speed ratings and fraction times etc.. to handicap their horse and you know who goes to the windows more often to cash his winning tickets?

ME ! MYSELF and I!

OK here's the tools you need #1 a calculator
#2 the racing form only cost $5.50 for more information than is in stock reports news papers. A pen or pencil.

For your Thourough breds horse and carriage horses !

Remember these facts in all races in history of world Thee four winningest post positions are the #2 #4 #6 #7.

2nd YOU will bet on only 1 track per sitting!

3rd YOU will bet only one horse to win or win place and show

4th rarely will you bet exactas or trifectas note name Exacta derived from word EXOTIC

Race tracks love those players who play these exoctic wagers.

4th Never Bet on the favorite to win because of that reason. the odds on favorite average % is 30%

Never NOT bet the favorite because of that fact take into consideration their are 4 contenders in every race.

Regardless of thier ODDS really only 4 horses in each race can win it!

exception of wacky accidents and other stuff happening in races.

OK how to pick that winner!

using last 6 races on form of each horse

go down and count how many wins how many places and how many shows

give each horse 300 points for each win 100 points for each place 50 points for each show

now with at least 6 races for the year look on right and see how much money each horse earned per race like this ;

6 races 1 w 1 place 1 show $3500

not a very good horse or maybe good running in cheap low price Claimers.

3500 divide by 6 = $583.33 earned per race.

that's your horses class rating.

now look up at odds board and see horse is going off at 25 -1 running in post 4 on a 6 furlong race.

hmmmmmmmmmm circle it this horse is an overlay morning odds of horse are 10-1

any way you want your horse to earn minuimum of $1000 per race

like if horse ran 20 races you want to see earnings of $20,000

Another thing DO NOT bet on horses dropping down from higher claiming races just because of that reason!

Owners of these old failures are trying to get something back from thier once big winners who are now 10 years old and cannot compete at the higher priced races!

Think of Homes for sale would sell off a $100,000 House for $10,000 that's in good condition? NO of course not!

Also beware of horses coming in from other tracks that are flatter and faster surfaces on a slow heavy dirt track.

In other words know YOUR track conditions and position biases many tracks have favorable posts that always seem to hit the board in every race.

More handicapping look at horses last race

when was it? if in regular claimer races or allowance races YOU want that horse back in action within 3 weeks.

Eliminate every horse that WON it's last race and was held out a month or more;
28 days is a month 4 weeks.

I cannot remember any of these horses hitting the board.

Read if horse was scrathched sick or injured and see if he or she has done this before.

NEVER listen to your friends or anyone else at the track they know no more than you do!

Many times a horses name will fit into your life something you do at work or something that happend that day.

Heres one from way back in 80's i recall

at simulcast races of Meadowlands over at Garden State race track in local new jersey about 15 minutes from my home just over the bridge.

6th race was horrible every horse lost by double digit lengths the odds on favorite who lost by 10 lenghts was 4-1 forget handicapping these mud turtles slow horses run 6 furlongs in the high 20's to 30's

yeah 1:20 to 1:35

so 1 horses name glows to me burnt biscuit

i connect name to the great sea biscuit however mom also burnt the biscuits for Dinner this night. Hunch connects!

Horses odds 55 -1 i run to window ,well fast paced walk bet $10 across the board

and wait it was 7 mins to post.

the horse wins by 10 lenghts i'm laughing walking back to window to cash this ticket

horse paid 3 exacta prices with two more bombs following the odds on favorite 4-1 came in 7th

so here's what my horse paid $112.40 to win

= $562 win ticket for $10 $45.70 to place = $228.50 ticket for second place and a whopping 10.90 to show = $54.50 to show paid $845 collected - $30 wagered = $815 profit in 10 minutes time!

ok it was 6th race i just won 8 times more money than i walked in with i'm already n New jersey 50 miles from casinos it's about 10 pm.

EXIT stage left hit the dice tables . this was way before live poker tables and the current casinos in atlantic city.

OK also elimante any horse running a sprint race from the 31 post in large fields 9 horses or more Unless this horse is able to stay on lead without having outside faster horses trapping him or her on the rail.

Must have 1.5 to 2 seconds more speed advantage than other horses.

IN USA do not bet any girl horses over the boys in these low priced races they just cannot win.

Girls are the F and M's Filles or Mares

watch for horses stretching out in other words horses close fast in sprints might be better suited to a mile or longer race.

horses bred for garss belong on grass races only do not bet a horse on dirt that runs most races on the turf trainer may be using race as conditioner for upcoming grass race.

OK more handicapping looks at each your contending horses last race

how did they finish did they lose lenghths at ebd

like say they won and were leading by 5 lenghts than held on by head you mark that horse minus 4 3/4 lengths off that race
Other result if horse was losing by 10 lengths or more and closed to 3rd they get a PLUS 7 or higher

after your done all this every race ,
takes about 10 minutes for an 10 horse field you most likely X out 3 automatically.

NEVER listen or read track mans comments unless he is giving facts about that horse that fit handicapping criteria i show in this post!

Another thing Winds 10 mph or more affect every race.

many tracks are in wide open meadows or in windy cities and if horses are sucking wind early race back stretch ;
every rabbit or front runner horse turns into hamburgers at final turn like they are running on a tread mill.

And they get run over by the closers.

OFF tracks are just that a wet track is nothing more fast sloppy track it affects horses and jockeys a lil bit because of water splashed in horses face and jockeys.

However a Muddy track is the worse condition of all.

look at horse hoofs to see if large cup like hoofs that will get get stuck in mud unless horse is wearing mud caulk shoes.

Shoes that have a bar across them for better traction.

find horses bread to run on wet surfaces that have smaller hoofs. Seattle Slew is is one who's offspring perform well in any condition

In a nut shell

CLASS your horses 1st read conditions of each race

eliminate horses out f class and under criteria shown above

remember speed is relevant when all other factors are met. IT IS LAST THING YOU USE ACCORDING TO DISTANCE.

Exapmple if your chsen horse runs average in 6 furlongs !;11 to 1;12 and 7 tenths

and the fastest horse after that horse does 112 to 113 you have full second advantage over the whole field and each second = 5 horse lenghts

dosent mean you have a winner guaranteed

but 98% of the time this horse will hit the money 1st 2nd or third hoping you get decent odds 4-1 or better but most likely you have one of the favored horses and i'd wager horse in one spot only like if horse was 8/5 you either bet $5 to win only or $10 to place show bets aint worth it for maybe 20 cents profit per $2 bet

Enjoy the races guys it's the sport of kings and it's exciting when they come down the stretch.

Even if you only have $2 to win on your horse it's great feeling to have a winner every half hour.
