Graham-Kapowsin WA -10'
Sheldon, OR 60

Might as well start in the Pacific Northwest.... 2 10-2 teams going at it to not only showcase 2 top QBs but for State bragging rights too.

Graham-Kapowsin is expecting big things this year as pundits feel Eagles can make State Title game behind strong armed QB Dylan Morris..... The Sr (6'1" 195 lbs) is the reigning Offensive Player of the Year in 4A SPSL... He passed for 3,086 yards last year with 31 TDs, averaging 257.2 yards per game thru the air and completes 65.9% of his passes.... The 4 Star recruit is the #5 ranked Pro Style QB in the country... He's one of the elite passers in the states, has pin point accuracy and more than one opposing Coach has spelled accolades as the best QB they have ever played against.... He attended Elite QB Camp in Redondo Beach and from there was invited to Dallas for the Nike Opening Finals (a invite only camp).... Dylan is a natural leader and is composed in the pocket at all times..... Even when the Defense is doing everything right, he can still make the throws.... The All-State and TNT All-area pick has great command of the offense... So much so, as a Soph he caught the eye of Chris Peterson (Washington HC) and was offered a full ride that year... Coach Peterson recognized that the kid showed Next Level Arm Strength and his Reads and Progression were advanced...... Morris picked UW over several Power Programs as he's been a Husky fan his whole life and wanted to stay somewhat local so his parents could come and watch.

Protecting Morris falls to a veteran O-Line group that features a 2-Way Starter, Sr OL/DL, Ethan Tela-Porter (I kid you not) is 6'3" 285 lbs, and is the 4A SPSL Lineman of the Year in '17....in addition, he logged 56 tackles ly w/3 sacks...(4 FCS offers on the table) also OL Kyle Bushman (6'4" 290 lbs) and 2 other returning OL should give Morris all the time he needs.

Wrs Eython Daughtry (Jr 6'1" 190 lbs) and Malaki Roberson (Jr 5'8" 165 lbs) should be top targets when the pigskin isn't being handed off to RB Tommy Loa (6'4" 260 lb)......

G-K is picked to win Class 4A and expected to build off of last years 10-2 record that Offense Averaged 39.8 ppg.... Unfortunately, the Defense held to 20.7 ppg so much needed Defensive upgrade is forecast and key Defensive positions will be filled by a JV program that was 8-0 ly... The Eagles only return 2 starting Defenders.

Oregon pride is represented by another 10-2 team from last year in the Sheldon Irish from Eugene (Duck Country).... Irish have a dynasty record of 160-25 and 90-7 in league... Irish own 4 State Titles and are looking for its 5th... Sheldon will only go as far as their Top Player, Sr QB Michael Johnson will take them... He's the #14th ranked dual-threat QB in the Country and passed for 1,218 yards w/21 TDs and rushed for 745 yards w/12 more TDs & 5 INTs.... He gets high marks for athleticism with arm strength and decision making skills.... He is the Top recruit in Oregon and committed last week to Penn St to the chagrin of Oregon St...

He will be passing the ball to another Div 1 recruit TE/DE Pat Herbert (Sr 6'5" 225 lbs) who has the versatility to line up in all Wide Out positions... He has the physical skills to take over a game...

Srs Jack and Zack Folsom are twins and Jack (WR/CB) is tough and will sacrifice his body for the catch... Zack (RB/OLB) was 1st team All-Southwest Conf ly..

2 OL (Sr Austin Lasby and Madden Salisbury) are bookend 300 lb linemen that should reap the benefits of a rigorous off season and provide the Irish with depth and dependability on both trenches...

If QB M Johnson stays healthy, the Penn State commit will take the Irish far... It doesn't hurt having other D1 recruits spattered on the offense and a couple on the Defense.....

Last years team averaged 38 ppg and only allowed 12.7....unfortunately, a lot of top defenders graduated leaving the D cupboard bare.... What does this mean? I think Graham-Kapowsin has the better team from top to bottom, however, neither teams strengths boast a Defense.... Both Offenses should click and this one has the makings of a shoot out with both teams putting the spotlight on their QBs to showcase..... This game could be a good one, but give me the Over 60.

2 units Over 60 WIN FS G-K 51 Sheldon 50

Brock TX - 18'
Brownwood, TX 63

6:30

Lufkin, TX 60
Longview, TX -8

-----------------

The great state of Texas gives us a doubleheader tomorrow...

In the first game Brock Eagles, a team that made it to the state finals a year ago, and return 8 Offensive Starters with 7 Defensive Starters are locked and loaded and ready to return to the Championship.... The Eagles last won State in 2015.....2017 team averaged 42.4 ppg while the D held opponents to 14.9....Eagles are the 45th ranked squad in Texas and 319 in the Nation....

QB Tripp Jones (1,265 passing ly w/12 TDs) is a dual threat that will lead the Eagles..... TE Baylor Cupp is the programs first big time recruit with multiple offers but chose Texas A&M..... North Texas commit OL John Brunner also fielded multiple offers.....

The Def is strong with 7 returnees but led by LB Jesse Hallmark and Zack Young (had 203 tackles last year)

The Brownwood Lions limp in after having 2 successive 6-5 teams.... The National Rank is #1, 753 and State is #205.... The team last captured a league title in 2010....still, the Dynasty record isn't too shabby at 107-71 and brighter days are ahead.

Last years team, averaged 38.5 ppg but the D held a porous 30 ppg.... To add insult to injury, Brownwood was just moved to a new Div that features some of the States toughest teams and 4 of the teams combined to go 42-12 last year. ... HC Sammy Burnett is new to the program and took over the reigns when the last HC bolted for another district school before the season started.... HC Burnett is returning to his Alma Mater...

Sr QB Tommy Bowden is returning as one of the top passers in Class 4A with 2,200 yards w/26 TDs with just 1 INt.... He's picked as the District Pre-season Offensive MVP....

He will have some good Wrs to throw to but a concern is the O-Line and its ability to keep Bowden healthy...

I'm not seeing much in the way Brownwood can stay in this game as the Defense the Lions will put out is very inexperienced and Brock should run away with this one.

2 units Brock -18'. WIN

Back with Lufkin/Longview tilt shortly

When these two hook horns, you can expect max effort from both sides and a bitter rivalry to boot.... This will be the 82nd meeting between the two, Lobos hold serve at 40-37-4....All eyes will be on Lobo Stadium as this one might be the best game out of the slate tonight. While you might be tempted to simply grab the points in this one due to the rivalry theme, you should note: Lufkins last win at Lobo Stadium was 2003....Longview has won 8 out of 10 last meetings... Longview is 63-5 under HC John King. Longview is ranked #7 in 6A, while Lufkin is ranked #3 in 5A..... Nationally, Longview is #77, while Lufkin is #124...... Longview is #7 in the State of Texas, Lufkin is ##16........

Lobos HC John King is 151-35 in his 15th year. In 2017, Lobos were 14-2 and beat the Panthers 35-16 on the opener, then won again in the State Semis 33-32 before losing to Midway 28-26 in the Finals.... *The playoff win was unique because Lobos trailed significantly but came storming back in the 4th quarter for what has been called one of Texas High Schools best games..... In 2016, Lobos lost 35-24. But swept again in 2015, winning 21-20 (another barn burner) and 31-10 in the playoffs...

Longview is 159-40 in the Dynasty Record, and 160-39 in League. Lobos have won League Crowns in 2013-2016 and 2004-2011....In 2017, the Offense averaged 41.2 ppg while Defense held to 20.9....Longview is #96 on MaxPreps Top 100.

There should be little drop off this season as Lobos return 7 Off Starters and 3 Def starters and will plug holes with talent from a 9-1 JV team... The return of 3 Star QB Haynes King Jr (6'3" 190 lbs) (102 of 186 for 1,743 yards w/20 TDs and 16 carries for 187 yards w/1 more +5 INT, Haynes has offers from Arkansas and Auburn... As a Soph, he was 10-1 as a starter finishing with 2, 170 pass yards w/28 TDs.

Helping King is RB Keilyn Williams (Sr 5'5" 160 lbs) had 1,235 yards w/17 TDs (Had 5 100 yard rushing games ly), WR Kamden Perry had 46 catches for 661 yards w/4 TDs ly, the 5'11" 170 lb Sr had 25 catches for 349 yards w/3 TDs in the post-season and has drawn interest from Incarnate Word and Northwestern St..... TE Daquavion Randall is big with sure hands... FB Jessie Anderson (Sr 5'11" 200 lbs) had 259 yards w/3 TDs...

On Defense, the team is led by S Jephaniah Lister (5'9" 170 lbs) is making his 27th career start and was Defensive Player of the Year ly.. He's a 3 year starter who had 91 tackles (6 for loss) w/5 forced fumbles 1 INT and 5 break-ups in his Soph season.... His Jr year he had 144 tackles-4 for loss - 4 INT, the All State Safety has garnered numerous attention from several D1 schools.....

The team has experience at every position on Off, but will try to establish the run, out of the Pro formations... OL Marcus Williams (Sr 6'6" 290 lbs) is going to TCU and OL Tim Puck (Jr with offer to Arkansas) the OL returns all its starters from ly.

Lufkin Panthers were 11-3 in 2017... Their Dynasty Rec is 135-45 (76-14 in League)... It's 2017 Off Avr was 34.6 ppg while D held to 20.7 ppg... Last years D allowed average of 84 rush yards while giving 195 pass yards.... They have 6 Offensive Starters back and 6 Def States... Returning QB Kevin Thomas was reason to hope, however, the job is going to Soph QB Jordan Moore as Thomas is unavailable due to injury... The OL and DL is huge and athletic. DL Breylon Garcia (6'3" 220 lbs) has ride to Nevada Wolfpack, DE Javasia Brunson (6'4" 235) has 12 offers that include Oklahoma St, Arizona, and Baylor.... DT Carl Williams (6'4" 300 lbs) is Arkansas commit, DB Jerrin Thompson (6'0" 180 lbs) has interest from Oklahoma, Baylor, SMU and Arkansas.... DB Demond McKelbly (6' 170 lbs) going to Arkansas Pine-Bluff,

On offense, WR Jalynn Polk (Jr 6'2" 185 lb) had 36 catches for 610 yards w/5 TDs.. The WR has offers from Illinois and Arkansas and is a playmaker.

The obvious battle will be between the Longview Veteran Offense against Lufkins Stout D with several D1 talent..... It's a Big East Texas Showdown on steroids times 10......The storied bitter rivalry should be a good one and I'm tempted to grab the +8 however, I can't ignore that Lobos have won 5 of the last 6 and 8 of the last 10....... Simply put, I don't trust a Soph QB to get the job done in this atmosphere and have to respect great Defense on both sides of the ball, which should translate to a slobber knocker Def gem with Lobos taking home the prize.

2 units on Longview -8 LOSS *ARGH BY 1

Dwyer, FL 35
Atlantic -6

Two of the Top Palm Beach County schools face off in a game with several sub-plots... Dwyer fell last year in the semis to Doral Academy. HC Jack Daniels, who besides having the coolest Coaching name in Florida, is in his 23rd season having gone 226-50 overall.... School last won State in 2013 and 2009 (*last Palm Beach school to win a State Crown) Panthers dynasty record is 156-29 (70-5 in League) *Won League Championships in 2016 and 2015, 2003-2013.....The 7A program was 11-3 in 2017 (Lost to Atlantic 21-12) and was 10-2 in 2016 (beating Atlantic 43-7)....The team is ranked #42 in the State and #383 in the Nation...... Compared to Atlantic, #263 in the Nation and #29 in State... Dwyer Off averaged 24.4 ppg and the Def averaged 11.8 ppg.

I suppose I could understand how Atlantic would be a -6 point fav here, however, it's obvious that without those sub-plots I talked about, the line would be right.... BUT, what isn't factored is the rash of transfer athletes that came over from Oxbridge Academy, a school that went all the way to the State Final last year, but disbanded the Football program after the State Championship citing lack of involvement by student athletes, expecting the numbers would dip below 20 and creating a health risk.... Problem was that the cupboard was far from empty and several D1 recruits were told to find another school..... 2 of the top athletes, a 4 Star CB Antavious Lane had 3 INTs ly and had already verbaled to Lane Kiffin that FAU was his calling..... Joining him from Oxbridge was 3 Star OL Da'Quan Thomas......

It gets better, 3 Star QB Gio Richardson and RB James Meeks (had 689 rush yards w/7 TDs ly for Oxbridge) both D1 talents decided to transfer to Palm Beach Central, and had started working out with those programs when for reasons unexplained, bolted at the last minute to Dwyer to make for a fully loaded transfer unit.... What Coach (Jack Daniel's) isn't going to pray to the gridiron God's that his season, that had potential before, was now a D1 (mainly FAU football factory)......Richardson (6'1" 195 lbs) passed for over 1,593 yards w/24 TDs & 495 yards w/9 TDs for Oxbridge)... This 3 Star QB was hardly a Pollyanna.

So it would appear that JD has a monster of a team that included a couple of Defensive players to also transfer and bolster the line... Last week in a 40-0 Blitz against Park Vista, the Defense held PV to 74 yards rushing and DBs Colby Dempsey and Da'Quan Wilson both returned pick 6 for TDs.... RB Ernest Blackshear had 110 yards rushing and had a 83 yard run TD..... Gio Richardson and James Daily (sharing QB duty) combined for 3 TDs.. *Richardson had TD strikes of 25 yards to Jabari Gaines and a 6 yard toss to his homeboy James Meeks...

Atlantic Eagles lost in the Class 8A State Final to Dr Phillips 17-7......The 2017 record was 12-2-1 and 2016 9-4.....They are ranked #29 in the State.... HC TJ (Tavarius Jackson) is in his 6th Season going 45-17 along the way.... Dynasty Record stands at 119-52 (64-16 in League) won League Titles in 2017, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2005-2007, 2003.....The offense averaged a measly 26.5 ppg and Def held 10.4....All the Starting Defense graduated from last years team.... Despite that, Atlantic held high powered Palm Beach Central to 14-0....for a shut-out....The Eagles D forced 3 turn-overs and held the rushing attack to 96 total yards...

Key returner is Jr Henry Bryant III (DT) anchors the Dline and is already a 3 Star recruit... The team has had to deal with plenty of adversity as their Team Captain, Sr DB Marc'Allan Derac died in a freak dirt bike accident, as one of the areas top DBs (had an outstanding 9 INT ly) the team has acknowledged his commitment to the program and retired #23 jersey and gave his mother his State Runner-up Ring..... The team has dedicated the season to him which should provide much needed motivation going forward this year. Derac had multiple Div 1 offers and his leadership now falls to Jr Henry Bryant III.

RB Antonio Gonzalez is a beast and has a couple of D1 offers.... He rushed for 2 TDs which ended up being enough to take the W.

Eagles graduated QB Antoine Williams and Sr RB Shelley Singletary and it's top 3 WRs, so the Offense may go through some growing pains.

The total at 35 is about right but I still like the Under here as both programs live by their hard nose Defense and have top athletes in several key positions... The biggest mistake that the books have made is not accounting for the FAU Recruits that chose Dwyer as their home.... The wrong team is favored and you better grab it if you can.

2 units Dwyer +6 (max play) LOSS *Wow, had this one pegged completely wrong... Apologies

1 unit on the Under 35 LOSS FS ATL 30 Dwyer 13

Cajon -24'
Murrieta Valley 74

Cajon Cowboys are ranked #48 in the Nation while it's opponent Murrieta Valley Nighthawks (cool nickname) is #367.... Cajon coming off a 14-2 season with one of the losses to Murrieta Valley in a shootout 49-46.....That game last year, as does this year, features 2 of the most prolific QBs in State History...... In last years shoot-out, both combined for 1,192 yards. Jaden Daniels won the individual battle besting his counter part passing for 567 yards w/6 TDs.... SR QB Hank Bachmeier has 336 yards w/5 TDs..... Both 4 Star recruits put on a show for the ages...... Interestingly, tonight after Daniel's throws for 18 yards, history will be made as the 2 would be the 1st QBs to share a field with 10,000 career yards to play in same game.

Murrieta Valley with HC George Wilson steering the ship, knows that it has its work cut out for it... Last year's offense averaged 41.7 ppg and Defense averaged 33.4....Their Dynasty record is 107-62-2 (League 49-25)....Team only has 5 Offensive Starters returning and 2 on Def..... They are reeling after suffering loss to Santiago 42-27....MV had 138 rush yards and 319 pass yards for a total of 457 yards, scoring 27 points.

Sr QB Hank Bachmeier (6'2" 200 lbs) is among the Top Rated QBs in the country, he is ranked #6 at the position and has offers from over 20 major programs, but looks like he's headed to the Blue Turf of Boise..... Bachmeier is a gamer and competitor, who helped MV reach the Div 2 Finals in 2016 (the programs 1st appearance in a CIF Southern Section Title Game.... His best season was his Soph year where he passed for 3,892 yards w/46 TDs & 679 yards w/8 TDs (only 3 INT).

Jr TE Jack Yary (6'5" 250 lbs) is heading to USC to follow his Dad's legacy where the elder was the #1 NFL Draft Pick... He was a USC All-American Lineman and had a tremendously productive career playing for the Minnesota Vikings (*My Team)....Sr T Lu Felder (6' 4" 290 lbs) is entertaining offers.

Unfortunately, Bachmeier is without his top WR from a year ago as he lost Marquis Spiker to graduation.... And will have to break in a new WR group as well as several skill positioned players.

The Cowboys of Cajon are feeling their oates and has Sr QB Jayden Daniels (6'3" 185 lbs) has started at the position since he was a Frosh... The Blue Chip dual threat QB passed for a remarkable 5,139 yards w/62 TDs and ran for 1,291 yards w/15 TDs (The Total of 6,431 yards set a new State Record.. .. A one man highlight reel... He is the #98 overall recruit and #2 at the QB position.

In 2017, the Cowboys were 14-2 and Offensively averaged 46.8 ppg while the D held to 20.1....The #48 team in the Nation and #16 team in CA has captured League Crowns in 2017, 2015, 2011, 2010, 2008 and 2005..... The Dynasty Record 103-68 (59-28 League) is impressive considering the talented teams they play year in and out.... Opening with decisive wins against Helix (43-3 and Paloma Valley (48-7) should be a harbinger of a successful and productive season.... Cowboys return 4 Offensive Starters and 4 Defensive.

Sr WR Darren Jones (6'9" 200 lbs) is a towering presence and has caught 107 passes for 2,094 yards w/28 TDs... His size creates complete mismatches for DBs.. He's the #22 rated WR in the Nation with 8 offers thus far, but his stock should increase after he gains a little weight... Standout WR Rodney Robinson is sure handed....

Sr ILB Jonathan Perkins (6'1" 215 lbs) has superior instincts and mobility.. He's rated in the Top 25 of Linebackers in the Nation... He had 24 offers but chose UCLA, however, he pulled his card and switched to Oklahoma... Also, Sr CB Cameron Stephen's (5'11" 165 lbs) isn't the biggest guy on the field, but the transfer CB from Rancho Cucamonga has offers from Nebraska and Arizona *His Coach stated that he was the best he's ever had at the position....

Last week, Trayvonne King recovered 3 fumbles from the ball hawking unit..... Only allowing 10 points in 2 games should carry over well for tonight's clash.

It doesn't appear that this one is headed for the same type of shootout as last year as there are obvious holes to fill on the Murrieta Valley Offense and Defense... Still, when you have a QB like Hank Bachmeier anything is possible...... However, 74 points is a tad high..

2 units on the Under 74 LOSS. FS Cajon 57 MV 28

1 unit on Murrieta Valley +24'. LOSS

Add...

USC -24 over UNLV...... 10 units LOSS... Slow start killed the cat

*I like my chances here with Trojans coming out strong and making a statement. The game looks a little like Bishop Gorman vs Mater Dei on steroids...... I have a lot of respect for what the Sanchez bros have done in the desert.... And Tony will have this program much improved but here comes JT Daniels and the Nation will see what the former Monarch phenom is capable of, even as a Frosh...... The kid is a gamer, super field smart, and will be prepared.... *I will admit that I was disappointed JT left the Monarch program so early, but the more I think about it, I believe that it might be the right move after all as winning the starting job is unexpected at USC, but I will defer to the coaching staff, keep my mouth shut and hopefully cash a pretty big ticket.

Good Luck to One and All.
