FCS Plays: 116-105 (-40.9 units)
HSF Degen: 57-36-1 (+27.1 units)

_____________
*Looking to finish off strong in all categories through the Bowl Games.....

*Final HSF Plays for this weekends CA State Championships @ Sac St.

Fridays Games:

4 pm CIF Div 2-AA...

Serra +1' Cajon (81)

3 units OVER 81 LOSS

*Serra Padres (12-2) have claimed back-to-back Central Coast Section Open Div 2 Titles but is still smarting from last year's Championship in a 42-40 loss to Sierra Canyon-Chatsworth, a game that the Padres missed 2 PAT kicks.....This loss may be a boon to give Padres a better idea of what to expect this time around.

Serra captured the West Catholic Athletic League Title for the 1st time since 1969....The Bay Area school is all business this time and long time HC Walsh (17th Season) is having his boys make the relatively short bus ride without all the fanfare, quoted as saying, "It's a Business Trip" not going up there to spend the night and make a vacation out of it.... Padres have 2 losses on the year, an opening game setback to St Mary's of Stockton (41-13)(St Mary's played in State Championships last year) and Pittsburg (35-28)(playing in Div 1A Title Game against Narbonne)..... Padres average 42.4 ppg but have recently exploded on Offense, as they put up 76 points to Tulare Union (76-43) in the CIF NORCAL DIV II-AA CHAMPIONSHIP, which set a school record for points as they found the end zone 11 times (3 by pass, 7 by rush, 1 fumble return for TD) the previous record was 69 points.... Jr QB Luke Bottari has completed 72.1% of his passes for 2,733 yards w/25 Tds (7 INTs).... WR Patrick Nunn (Wash St Commit) has 61 catches for 843 yards w/9 Tds...... RB Isiah Kendrick (Sr 5'11 175 lb) has rushed for 1,520 yards w/27 Tds *Last week, he carried 25 times for 217 yards w/3 Tds & a 34 yard TD (he needs 3 Tds to match the school record of 52 Tds) Isiah has an offer to Idaho, and most recently Montana St, Kendrick averages 168.6 rush yards per game...The Oline and D line suffered a huge hit when it lost Antonio Mafi (6'3" 360 lbs) a two-way starter going to UCLA or Cal... Still, both lines have Stout Athletes but Serra is relegated to 3rd stringers on some key positions.

From the South comes Cajon Cowboys (14-1) averaging 48.9 points per game while allowing 18.9....The South Section Div 4 Champs are led by Jr QB Jayden Daniels (6'3" 175 lbs) , a dual threat QB that leads the Nation with 4,795 yards passing w/61 Tds (incredibly only 4 INT) and 1,216 yards *Top rusher on team to boot....He averages 320 pass yards per game and 82 rush yards....He has more yards than the CA Gatorade Player of the Year JT Daniels out of Mater Dei.... He has 2 WRs with over 1,000 yards received (which is the only thing he hasn't done) WR Darren Jones has 1,962 yards w/27 Tds, the converted Basketball player is 6'8" 190 lbs and will go up high to get it with surprisingly soft hands that most CBs can't account for his height...
Also, Tre Noriega (the South American Dictators Nephew... OK, I made that up to see if you were paying attention).. But he does have 1,030 yards w/10 Tds....

In last weeks game, Cajon took it to Rancho Verde (70-23)....the offense scored on its first 3 of 4 possessions and scored in all facets of the game (returned a pick 30 yards for a TD, returned a kick-off 90 yards that made the score 50-15 at the half.... Daniels rushed for 128 yards on 12 tries.....

Cajon has gained 7,569 yards in 14 games (4,810 by air, 2,759 on the ground)... The Cowboys only loss was to Murrieta Valley (49-46)....They are extremely dangerous averaging over 500 yards of total offense a game and the statistics lean to more of the same tomorrow afternoon.... The key will be, can Serra match the offensive firepower they will see.... If last week's results are indicative, then perhaps.... Serra has come along way from a predominant smash mouth run game... In fact, Coach Walsh (no relation to Bill, who resides in the Bay Area too) made the decision to implement an offense that was better balanced and not afraid to pass the ball after losses to San Jose Power Bellarmine in 2012....The results were almost immediate. The modernization of Padres Offense allowed the team to compete at all levels.... It should be noted that both teams last week saw the 4th quarter go to running clock.... Cajon has amassed over 7,569 yards of offense and look to continue the mayhem tomorrow..... I lean to Cajon here, but just think that these offenses should get to 40 fairly easy and perhaps the winner could very well be into the 50s so I'm buying the Over here.... Also, I will be at all the games this weekend and I'm at my Sister's house outside of Sac right now, and like last year it's pretty frigid cold for this area...... However, the Serra/Cajon game will be played while the sun is still out so the offenses and teams should barely notice the colder weather.... In fact, it may boost offensive production both ways....

Good Luck

Back later with the Folsom/Helix Game thoughts!

Friday Night Lights....

8 pm Folsom Bulldogs -9 Helix Highlanders (63)

3 Units Over 63 WIN ....3 units Folsom -9 LOSS

The Div I-AA game features 2 offenses that can flat out get after it and this game has the potential to be a barn burner, however, I'm leaning has hard on Bulldogs for good reason..... Folsom is seeking its 3rd CIF State Title since 2010....The offense averages 48.1 ppg and 490.9 total yards of offense (202.4 rush yards/288.5 pass yards)..... QB Kaiden Bennett has 4,109 yards w/53 TDs (11 INTS) and 1,079 rush yards for a very dangerous dual-threat QB... He has lit up the scoreboard in the playoffs to a tune of 1,693 passing yards w/20 TDs and 4 INTS in 5 playoff games..... He has a plethora of top athletes to help his cause.... RBs combination of Brandon Rupchock, CJ Hutton, and Daniyel NGata make up 3,036 rush yards w/38 TDs..... WR Elijah Badger has 45 receptions for 802 yards w/11 TDs.

You can't wager on the Bulldogs without mentioning the NGata Bros... Joseph NGata is a 4 Star Recruit and has earned the nickname "The Freak of Folsom"
the (6'3" Jr WR) is compared to a young Randy Moss and has 76 snags for 1,618 yards w/25 TDS (10 in last 4 games) (average 22.1 yards per catch) the Jr has lots of interest with offers from USC, CAL, Notre Dame, Penn St, Wash and Utah.... The NGatas (Daniyel and Joseph feed off each others success on and off the field... Daniyel (Soph, 5'9" 180 lbs) leads Bulldogs in rushing with 823 rush yards w/10 TDS and has 34 catches for 364 yards w/4 TDS.... The boys have earned the highest of accolades from their Coaches, Teammates, Opposing Coaches and Media.... The Boys have received somewhat irresponsible targets of naysayers that squeal that Folsom High recruits and that the NGatas were recruited to the program.... The truth lies in their Father's journey to America from his home country, Cameroon in Africa... Father Ray NGata moved to the US to attend college and possibly to play Soccer, in which he was quite good.... He graduated Columbia with a degree in Economics and Business Admin and moved his family to Reno, Nevada.... The boys were given an option to attend High School to play Football (evidently Soccer was Dad's sport) but had to make the decision together.... The Boys (also older Bro, Ariel) chose Folsom (a couple of hour drive west) from Reno....even though their first interest was Texas Power, Allen..... The Mother and Grandmother rented a house near the High School and the Siblings have attended Folsom since their FROSH year...... Of course, as soon as the Boys made a name for themselves on the gridiron, all opposition in the Sac Valley leveled accusations that Folsom was actively recruiting.... The Boys, Administration, and Coach Staff have vehemently denied all such accusations..in fact, HC Kris Richardson has stated that the program has lost out to "transfers" from their own program..... Coach Richardson has stated all along, "the Best Athletes at their position will play"....... Older Brother, Ariel NGata is redshirting this year at Washington U as a LB on full ride.....Joseph and Daniyel haven't made a commitment yet to any College, but both will have pick of the litter......

Helix Highlanders won the San Diego Section Open Div.... They average 41.4 points, allowing 9 ppg (including 5 shut-outs) The average roughly 406.4 total yards per game... QB Carson Baker for 2,410 yards w/33 TDS & 3 INTS, also has rushed for 318 yards which makes him more of a pocket passer (heading to UC Davis to play QB) ... His goto WR is Isaiah Woeden for 1,622 yards.... RB Elelyon Noa (Soph has 196 carries on the season for 1,652 yards w/15 TDS (includes last week's 164 rush yards efforts w/3 TDS against always Stout Defense of Mission Hills)...

Helix's strength is in its secondary that features DB Rashad Scott (San Diego Section Player of the Year) he has 8 picks on the year (heading to San Diego St) also DB (Sr, 6'2" 185 lbs) Taylor Stuart, ranked the #2 CB in his Class (offers from nearly every Power Program in the Country.... USC, Bama, Ohio St, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, etc).. Stuart became a Social Media sensation last summer when he won the National Adidas Camp 40 yard dash in 4.25 seconds, earning the moniker "Fastest Prep Player in the Land" *Actually would've been the 2nd fastest time at the NFL Combines, only to John Ross (4.22).....

This game features some outstanding athletes.... Folsom is 6-1 in Championship games at Sac St this decade, the lone loss was to DeLaSalle in the 2012 Norcal Open Final. ..... Bulldogs aren't exactly playing at a Nuetral sight as the high school is 32 miles to Stadium, while Helix is 507 miles..... The game being played at 8 pm will give Folsom an advantage as this cold front came in a couple of weeks ago and Folsom has had time to adjust and assimilate the frigid conditions, while Helix is from Sunny CA..... Helix Lone loss was to high flying Paraclete (23-6)....However, Folsom has more quality athletes in skill positions to create problems for the heralded Secondary of the Highlanders....

Last year, Folsom beat an emotionally charged Oceanside, who was playing the last game of their beloved, legends Coach John Carroll, a game that the San Diego communities are still smarting from in a 68-7 whitewash.... While I don't believe Folsom will thrash Helix, like Oceanside, I do believe they are the better team and should cover 10+ points fairly comfortably when all is said and done.....I think Helix will be singing the Johnny Cash ballad, "Folsom Prison Blues" (1957)

Play Folsom and the OVER...... 3 CREDITS EACH

Sat Night Fight..... Creme dela Creme...

8 pm Mater Dei Monarchs -23' DeLaSalle (62')

3 units on Mater Dei - 23' WIN and 3 units on the Over 59' WIN but bought my bet back because I didn't trust the wind blowing heavily... Lot ofppoints in this one because of the ground game on both sides chewing up big real estate

This one is for all the Marbles and unless you've been hiding under a rock this season, it's basically for that Mythical National Championship that Bishop Gorman won last year..... While I'm sure there is widespread jealousy from several regions (Florida, Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania to name a few) the fact remains that Mater Dei is loaded with Div 1 athletes in all classes (roughly 19 Div 1 offers) and have perhaps the best QB in the Nation (JT Daniels should win the Gatorade National Player of the Year) (He won the CA Gatorade Player of the Year ly) His numbers are incredible (completing 72% of his passes for 3,890 yards w/49 Tds and only 4 INTS) what needs to be considered is that Daniels sat out a lot of 4th quarters while a running clock was implemented....... I'm not asking to get in a pissing match, and I realize that school's like IMG could give Monarchs a game, but the Trinity League is one of the toughest high school football leagues in the world and there are fantastic athletes throughout the League and Orange County...

There was a time when DeLaSalle Football was spoken with reverence throughout the US as the Spartans were on a brain-numbing 151 game win streak at all levels that included a 4-0 all-time record against the Monarchs from 1998-2001...... Unfortunately, that was ancient history and while DeLaSalle still manages to play at a high level in Northern Cal and still schedules National Talent... The Spartans appear to be thoroughly mismatched here.... One only has to look at the Common Opponent Bishop Gorman out of Las Vegas (last year's undefeated, National Champion.... Mater Dei thrashed Gorman 35-21....while DeLaSalle lost 34-7.........In addition, DeLaSalle played in this game last year and was beat handily to Mater Dei Rival St John Bosco, 56-33 which were the most points scored against The Spartans since 1979......

So here comes the Mountain to Mohammed...... Monarchs have 5 of Cal Top 50 College Prospects in the Class of 2018....including the #1 Overall Recruit WR Amon Ra St Brown.... And the Monarchs will have 3 of the Top 25 recruits in Class of 2019, including the #2 overall recruit QB JT Daniels ...while there will be as many as 23 college prospects on the field (19 of them will belong to Mater Dei)..... Mater Dei has put down St John Bosco twice this year including last week's 49-24 romp against the Braved that many felt were better than last years version that captured the Open Division......

DeLaSalle does have a game plan and has its share of Div 1 talent, and many feel this year's team is matured and ready.... Spartans have 17 experienced returners, while the DBs are somewhat depleted; nearly every major D contributor is back... DT Tuli Letuligasenoa (6'2" 200 lbs) (USC committed) and on offense RB Kairee Robinson (5'9" 190)(visited Howard and San Jose St) leads the offense but it should be noted that he hasn't played in the last 2 weeks due to injured foot and I'm hearing that he will suit but is doubtful...

This isn't about the 26 consecutive Section Championship or the 26 year unbeaten streak against local competition..... DeLaSalle wants a physical game (non-finnesse) wants to control the clock with its ground game and make it to the 4th quarter where it can be in striking distance.... However, Monarchs speed and strength will be an eye opener and there is no way they can stay with Mater Dei.

Mater Dei did schedule St Mary's of Stockton (a norcal power) and won 52-14....its offense has amassed 6,292 yards (3,997 through the air)....
Monarchs under HC Bruce Rollinson seek its first State Championship and 3rd National Title.... I see no reason to believe DeLaSalle has the tools to hang, and while a backdoor cover should be a consideration, I like Monarchs to win by 30+ and expect Rollinson to bury DeLaSalle so there's no argument over the National Title..

Sat

4 pm Narbonne Harbor -2' Pittsburg (54')

3 units on Narbonne -2' WIN

3 units on the Under 54' WIN

Narbonne Gauchos (11-3) are going for 2nd CIF State Title... Last year, Narbonne were 14-0 heading into the CIF SoCal regional and riding a 27 game win streak.... Gauchos fell behind early trailing 28-7 but rallied losing 35-28 which took a lot of the starch out of HC Manuel Douglas, who entertained retiring, but changed his mind and here they are again.... The team is led by RB Jermar Jefferson, who has rushed for 1,696 yards w/32 Tds (he's going to Colorado or Utah.... The offense averages 45.7 points per game.... And average 459.6 of total offense pg.... Rutgers bound QB Jalen Chatman, who does an excellent job mixing up the offense (216 rush yards per game and 243 pass yards per game) Offensive coordinator is Brandon Manumaleuna, a former TE that played 10 years in the NFL... His son plays for the Gauchos, but the irony is that Coach runs a spread offense with 4 WRs but no TE (the position he played in the NFL).... Whatever he is calling, it's working as the Gauchos appear to be jelling at the right time.... In last week's game against Paraclete, the Defense recorded 8 sacks and it was the 9th consecutive game that ended with a running clock, and during this 9 game stretch the Gauchos are out scoring opponents by 519 points while allowing just 55, which is dominant football.... The division between run and pass is nearly 50/50.....they have won 9 in a row since starting the season 2-3....and have outscored opposition 58-6 in those games.... They won all 5 league games by at least 5 Tds..... They have continued to roll in the LA Section Playoffs and Southern Regional... 8 Narbonne players are rated 3 stars or higher on the Recruiting trail with top recruit prospect, Raymond Scott (6'2" 220 lbs) a LB going to USC.....

Pittsburg comes in at (9-2) and are the Bay Valley Athletic League Champs, beating Granite Bay 37-14 in dominant fashion last week.... It's Pittsburgs brutal schedule and tough D that has HC Victor Galli convinced that they are prepared for the Gauchos.... The Defense has to be Stout because the Offense is only averaging 31.9 points per game..... Pirates have 8 players in the Sr and Jr class that are rated at least 3 stars (5 being recruited by PAC-12 schools) Pittsburg is always the red headed step child in the area, playing 2nd fiddle to DeLaSalle, a team that beat them 24-7 in the North Coast Section Open Div Championship Game... Pirates average 191 yards per game on the ground to 168.6 yards by pass, for a very balanced attack.... Pitt has 3 very dangerous WRs, one is leading receiver Sr Ajae Boyd who has over 700 yards receiving w/7 Tds.... QB Justin Boyd has completed 56.3% of his passes for 21 Tds...

Both squads have marquee Jr's, Narbonne has OT Jonah Tauanu as the 9th rated in class of '19 while Pitt boasts the 8th top recruit in DL Jacob Bandes.... The fact is Narbonne is playing out of its mind... While Pitts Defense is formidable, I don't think the offense is up to the challenge of keeping pace.... Common Opponent was Centennial - Corona (perhaps the third best team in the state... Narbonne succumbed 52-6 while Pitt fell 63-21 so not a lot can be gleaned from that affair.... Narbonne is playing on another level right now and I always look to back the hot hand... Since the last 2 weeks of the season, RB Jermar Jefferson (previusly mentioned) has only had 8 carries (4 of which were Tds) since then, he has been virtually impossible to stop carrying 71 times for 799 yards w/14 Tds, in last weeks contest he rushed for 221 yards and 5 TDs.... Don't believe Pittsburg will have an answer for him.

3 units on Saint Francis - 5' over Grace Brethren WIN *Saint Francis gets the cover but it wasn't easy..... Grace has an exceptional program and those Frosh are going to be scary good... Better get them now if it isn't too late.... Hell, when I was a Freshman I was focused on putting my jockstrap on right

Lean to Under 49

*Had a nice write up for this game that starts at 12 pm... Honestly, was going to stay away from it until I had the chance to talk to some Mountain View fans last night about the Lancers.... (actually both programs mascots are the Lancers)...

Saint Francis goes as far as their record setting RB (Jr 5'10" 185 lb) Darrell Page goes.... He has rewritten the schools record books by breaking a 21 year record of 2,204 yards rushing w/23 Tds *Needs 3 more Tds to tie the record.... The kid has consecutive games rushing for 225 yards or more and he's compared to Heisman runner-up Bryce Love out of Stanford... He loves to run between the tackles and uses power, strength and speed to get the job done.....

So looking further, I had to ask how he was able to break the record and found out that the Offensive Line is Massive... (LT Moses Vavao (So 6-2" 280) LG Tyler Manoa (Sr 6'5" 285 lbs) C Alex Waddell (Sr 6'2" 225 lbs) RG Longahulu Ahoia (Sr 6'2" 260 lbs) RT Nikko Pohancuu (6'5" 260 lbs)..... I know Juco programs with smaller Oline...... In addition, blocking out of the backfield is FB rotation of Nick Robinson (6'0" 220) & Opeti Fangupo (5'10" 230 lbs) also TE Joshua Pakola (6'4" 240 lbs) and Junior Freholo (6'4" 240)...That my friends is some serious meat.

Grace Brethren is (13-2)and kinda a surprise to get this far.... While I have no doubt this team can play, I have a hard time putting my money on a team that is led by a FROSH QB, FROSH RB and a FROSH Lineman starting.... The other Lancers have 13 Soph and 9 Frosh on the roster and the underclassmen make considerable contributions...

Saint Francis lost twice to Serra (yesterday's Div 2 AA Champion) and to DeLaSalle...

I think this one could get ugly and is St Francis 2nd appearance in 3 years to the Championship....

Boise +7'........10 units WIN *How's that PAC-12 working for you? :nono:.

*Nice thing about Bowl Games is that you can throw a lot of stats out the window and concentrate on those "intangibles" to help your play decisions...

One of my most lucrative models over the past 30 years is to bet against All Pac-12 teams, no matter what the situation... Last year, I tried to warn people and I won every bet against PAC 12 teams.... I know many West Coast fans will spit and fume at my reckless prognosis of the Bowl Games and call me a Hater and other adjectives, but I like money and the Bowls have always been good to me.... So here I go....

Had to buy back my total in the Mater Dei game as this wind is ridiculous and I expect both teams to run the ball as much as possible.... Daniels is a stud, but he's having problems with anything over 30 yards.... Think we will see a dink and dunk style but I do expect Amon Ra St Brown to be a small factor.... Mater Dei reminds me of a Div 1 program.... DeLaSallehas ssome size too.... This wind really helps the Spartans game plan...... But still think Monarchs roll by 30

Actually rolled by 31 but what you going to do

Wed Football:

LA Tech /SMU Over 71......7 units LOSS.
. Thanks to Stangs forgetting to show up...

HSF Degen Play:

Refugio/Mart Under 66'.....3 units WIN
*2 of the Top HSF Small Schools going at it in Texas High School Football Championships.... Refugio Bobcats (13-1) had an early season hiccup before running the table and making it back to the 2A Div 1 Title game where they hope to repeat as State Champs and add to the State Title Total of 5.....The team survived some big adversity this year with the Hurricane and injuries to key players.... The QB can sling the ball around for 4,000+ plus yards.... The Off average 47.1 ppg... And THE Defense holds opponents to 13.5 ppg

Mart Panthers (14-1) with the Off averaging 56.6 points per game..... The Defense holds opponents to 9.6...Obviously something has to give and Defenses win Championships right? QB Jace Terry is a clutch dual threat, that has 2,613 yards w/31 Tds and 924 rush yards

Both teams have speed and athleticism all over the field and this one has the potential to light up the scoreboard, so buyers beware.

Like most of you, I'm not a big fan of turning over my hard earned money for a game where one of the Teams decides not to show up... Perhaps it was the vaunted LA Tech Defense that put the Mustangs offense in a shell, or perhaps it's the notorious party 🎉 scene in Frisco, TX that was too much... Whatever the case, I'm flipping over it.... Can't you tell?

On to games where the players are actually trying...

Texas 2A Div II:

Muenster Hornets +11' Tenaha Tigers (63)

Hornets (15-0) are making their 1st State Final Appearance after advancing from a 31-28 tenuous decision over Wellington... The offense is averaging 52.7 ppg while the Defense is stout at 6.73 ppg.... The offense moves through the leadership of QB (Jr 6'0" 185 lbs) Parker McGrew who is 133 of 194 for 2,531 yards (only 2 INTS) and has carried for an impressive 143 times for 1,121 yards w/17 Tds.... Last week he was clutch passing for 235 yards w/3 Tds..... While 4 different RBs can be called upon for duty, RB (Sr 5'9" 170 lbs) Clay Stevens has 118 carries for 1, 137 yards w/17 Tds (and 18 catches for 445 yards w/7 TDS..... WR (Soph Danny Luttmer has 27 catches for 499 yards w/9 TDS..... RB (Sr) Kagen Dangelmayr has carried 13 times for 165 yards w/3 TDS and 16 catches for 229 yards w/4 more TDS...... RB/LB Seth Fluscher (Sr) has 39 carries for 477 yards w/6 TDS and 5 catches for 37 yards..... Muenster opponents have a cumulative record of 95-82 (.537) winning edge.... The greatest strength of this team is the ball hawking Defense led by an abnormally large and strong D Line for this Classification...The Defense has forced 33 turn-overs (16 INTS / 17 Recovered Fumbles)....

Tenaha Tigers (16-0) come in averaging 52.9 ppg and roughly 490 yards of total offense.... The Def has been miserly allowing 6.18 ppg.... Tigers haven't been tested and played a game closer than 19 points since a 1 point win in Week 1.....In last week's semi's, Tigers cruised to a 60-22 win over Burton..... Tenaha does have 2 state Championships under its belt (1998, 2011) HC Craig Horn is in his 3 year at Tenaha...He has 3 boys that play on the team... QB CJ Horn (Sr 6'0" 190 lbs) is 135 of 171 for 2,795 yards w/38 TDS (only 3 INTS) and dual threat yards on the ground for 76 carries for 676 yards w/15 TDS..... He is the DCTF 2A Div 2 Pre-season Offensive Player of the Year.... Coaches 2nd Son is adopted RB Onterio Thompson who passed the schools single season record for rushing yards last week, when he was 13 carries for 241 yards w/4 TDS (important to note that Thompson didn't really get going until the 2nd half where he had 224 of the 241 yards he had scoring runs of 4, 56, 30, and 73)...He has 2,462 yards on the season w/34 TDS....Onterio (Sr 5'10" 180 lbs) father died when he was 2 and he lived in another school district where Coach Horn worked and took him under his wing in the 6th grade.. He was adopted in the 8th grade and moved with the family when Coach Horn took the Tigers HC job... The 3rd son is only a Soph but contributes on Special Teams.... WR Trai Gardner is another weapon at (Sr 6'0" 183) he has 56 catches for 1,024 yards w/18 TDS and has 16 carries for 243 yards w/3TDs (he is an excellent Safety on D) last week Gardner scored 4 TDS in 3 different ways (he caught scoring passes of 71 & 52 yards, ran for a 65 yard TD and returned an 95 yard INT for a score (also had a Kick Return for a TD called back)..... WR/DB Jay Loyd (Jr 5'11" 170 lbs) has 33 catches for 600 yards w/9 TDS and 18 carries for 218 yards w/3TDs....... Tigers opponents this year are a cumulative record of 75-75 (.500)....Its important to note that O Thompson has been held to under 100 yards once....

Both teams average margin of victory has been 46 points..... As both teams rolled through the regular season and for the most part playoffs..... The Muenster Defense will be the best that Tenaha has seen.... The question is how will either team react to possibly falling behind by a score or two? The key match-up will be the Tenaha Rushing Attack against the Muenster D front 7.....

I love to peruse the various message boards to see what the locals are saying and fighting about.... Also media talking heads can provide interesting feedback and thoughts as well as those "intangibles" that I love to find... The fact is the Tigers can beat you with a number of ways and while Thompson may get bottled up with this big front of Muenster, there is plenty more speed and athleticism all over the place.... However, when I see people piling up on one side, not giving the other a chance, my hackles go up....and frankly 11 points is a lot to give the Hornets.... I also think that 63 might be a bit high in what could turn into a defensive game... Oh yeah, Muenster and Tenaha last met in a 2015 regional game.. (Muenster won 33-16)

Sorry for the late post.... Picked up 6 units this am as I had Muenster + but won outright and in a fairly low scoring affair... Love HSF Degenerate Football from the Lone Star State....

1 pm Rockdale Tigers +7' Brock Eagles (65)

The 3A Div II game against two teams looking for their schools 2nd State Title should be a good one.... Brock (13-2) averages 42.6 ppg while allows 12.9, is unique as it's Varsity Football program is only in the 4th year of UIL Sanctioned Season..... The fact that the Eagles are returning to Arlington after winning it all in 2015 sure has the pundits taking notice.... 2 returning RBs (Dawson Littlepage and Tanner Patino) are the Senior workhorses and both were starters as Soph in the 2015 Championship Season.... They literally pasted their opponent last week (49-21) against Kemp.... They have dominated their playoff run with no team getting closer than 18 points....

Rockdale Tigers (12-3) come in as the de facto Cinderella squad that Last hefted the State Trophy in 1976.....Not a lot of social media is giving them much of a chance but they do feature a Do-All RB/WR/QB/Special Teams Stud, who had 103 yards w/1 TD last week against Yoakum High (the favorite) and has 50 catches for 695 yards w/10 Tds, and has rushed for 634 yards on 61 carries w/11 Tds, and has completed 3 of 5 passes for 53 yards w/2 Tds (NO INTS)...He has 1,329 yards w/21 Tds on the ground.. The Sr (5'9" 161 lbs) is the Tasmanian Devil on the gridiron... He will sign with Oklahoma on Monday (has turned down Auburn, Georgia Colorado, Baylor, Florida and over 20 other D1 Schools.... The QB is Tory Locklin, his numbers are impressive with 4,512 yards w/53 Tds.... Last week as Crawford got bottled up, he ran wild for 313 yards w/3 TD...

I've a tendency to favor the Unders in these Championship games, but think this one has the makings of a shootout.... Also like Rockdale to walk away with the Hardware..

Picked up another 6 units, so going for the Tri-fecta with the final TX Championship game on Thursday...

5 pm Gunter Tigers -5 Newton (63)

Some Texans feel this game may be the best overall match-up for all Title Trys.... Perhaps, Gunter Tigers (15-0) are trying to repeat State Championship for Class 3A Div II and are riding a 31 game win streak.... The overall playoff record is 35-23....The offense averages 50.4 ppg and the Defense ranks #1 in 3A D2 at 7 pp (Defense has posted 6 shut-outs and is only allowing 12 ppg to some very active Offensive schemes in the Playoffs.... QB Daylan Bower is coming off accolades as the District Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2016.... His key dump off is to RB Dylan Jantz (Jr) with 1,061 yards rushing w/24 rush Tds.... As a team, Tigers run a variant of Wing-T; with Veer, Belly, Buck Sweep and Waggle... The offensive numbers are 46 of 76 for 838 yards w/13 Tds and 572 carries for 4,696 rush yards w/86 Tds.... It's pretty obvious what the game plan is......

Newton Eagles (14-0) are also undefeated and have some very impressive stats backing them too.... Offensive averages 53.1 ppg which is the #1 ranking in 3A and Defense allows 9.1 ppg.... Eagles have 3 state titles and a playoff record of 75-38-2...As a team, they are 110 of 172 for 1,876 yards w/30 Tds and 486 carries for 4,398 yards w/65 Tds... Jr QB Josh Foster has 2,200 yards total w/41 Tds... He has dangerous friends with him, RB (Jr) Darwin Barlow has 2,100 yards w/37 Tds (in 14 games he rushed for 2,109 yards w/37 TDs.... Probably the most dynamic player is WR/SS Tamauzia Brown has 13 TD receptions (averaging 16 yards per catch and has 802 yards w/13 TDs through the air with an additional 355 yards w/4 TDs on the ground....

2 high power offenses with fast Defenses going 100%....i think this could be a coin flip but I do like the Under here as both teams want to run...

Lean to Gunter -5

Home for the holidays so i did not get a chance to post today.

Tomorrow Texas:

West Orange Stark+1.5 Max play
West Orange Stark Under 40 Half
Midway/CyFair under 58 Max PLay

Carthage over 76 1/4 Unit
Highland Park +7.5- this is John Stephen Jones the grandson of Jerry Jones is the stud QB of Highland Park. Manvel is by far the fastest team HP will play but HP defense is a great situation team. I expect this to be high scoring. Max play
Highland Park Over 71 Max play

Aledo -6.5 Max Play- Aledo a dynasty team and so good

Lake Travis- Guys check on the status of QB for LT. The Ohio State commit QB for LT came out of the semifinal game due to injury. The backup is an athlete who runs and throws... a true Soph who brings a different dynamic. Allen is very good team. This game could go either way. I lean to LT but think it is going to be a hell of a game.

Frydayz Playz...

Live from AT&T Stadium (well not really)

9 am Carthage Bulldogs (15-0) vs Kennedale Wildcats (14-1)

Carthage -6 Kennedale (76)

I stood on my head trying to figure this one out... Carthage Bulldogs are the Class 4A Div 1 State Champs for 2016... This will be the 6th time in 10 years that Bulldogs are making an appearance in the Title match and 7th overall appearance.... HC Scott Surratt has an overall record of 133-27....He is 46-5 in the playoffs, and since 2007 with Carthage, he is 5-0 in Championship games when he's at the helm...

Carthage is disciplined and believes in their Coach (which is half the battle)... The Offense averages 46.4 ppg and Defense allows 20 ppg... Dogs have scored at least 40 points in all but 1 game... Scoring against Carthage isn't the issue, it's maintaining space and matching scores as most have found it difficult to stop the Offense... They did have a scare last week in the Semifinals against Waco La Vega in a 46-39 shootout... QB Gunner Capps had 3 uncharacteristic fumbles that allowed Vega to cash in, but QB Capps settled down and made some nice passes down the field, he has 45 Tds on the year .. WR Dee Bowen is the leading WR averaging over 22 yards per catch (he has 1,239 receiving yards w/21 Tds... Also bailing Capps out is the team MVP, Sr RB Keaontay Ingram who has over 5,000 yards w/80 Tds in his career (going to Texas) at 6'0" 190 lbs he is strong and elusive as Vega found out in his 207 yards on 26 carries w/2 Tds... As a Junior, his numbers were 2,045 yards and he was the best returning RB in Class 4A D1....

Kennedale is generating a lot of excitement from the hometown faithful... The Wildcats average a whooping 54.5 ppg while allowing 17.67...This is the school's first Championship Game and HC Richard Barretts 1st Championship in his 39 year's of Coaching... Wildcats have 1 loss on the year, a 3 point loss to West Orange-Stark, a team playing in the 4A Div 2 Title.... Cats pounded into submission the 5 time State Champ Stephenville 54-28 in the same Stadium that they'll play in tomorrow.... Kennedale has outscored their opponents 817-265 and can chew up large swaths of real estate while controlling the clock.... The Defense shut Stephenville down by limiting the prolific offense to just 28 yards rushing, a figure that was 170 yards below average....

Kennedale runs the Wing-T Offense which utilizes 4 players in the scheme that primarily a rush offense, in fact, Wildcats have only passed the football 5.9 times per game... The QB, 2 RBs, and a Halfback (or Scatback) are the keys.... Kennedale is blessed to have 2 outstanding RBs.... Sr RB (5'9" 180 lbs) Jaden Knowles and Jr RB DJ Kirven (5'8" 170 lbs) have combined for an incredible 4,391 yards w/75 Tds.... They were unstoppable last week, the dynamic duo racked up 543 yards rushing (Kirven had 348 yards w/5 Tds).... They form one of the most dangerous backfields in the country.... The two have been teammates since elementary school and were friendly competitive back then... Knowles is 2nd among leading rushers with 2,085 yards w/34 Tds... Kirven is the #1 rushing Tds with 35 and has ran for 1,839 yards..
Both are beneficiaries of an offense in which 85.6 % of yards and 89.7% of the TDs have come via rushing plays.... There are only 2 Dallas area teams with a 2,000 yard rusher (McKinney is the other school) and Kennedale may very well have 2 when this is over... HC Richard Barrett is sort of a River Boat Gambler when it comes to decisions regarding 4th down... He has faced 4th down 19 times in the 5 playoff games and only has punted 6 times, 4 times he kicked a FG and in the other 9 sitouations, he has only come up short once by a yard....*Kennedale has a very reliable FG kicker who has made it from 43 yards and Coach claims his left footed FG man could make a 58 yarder if needed.... He averages 42.1 yards as a seldom used Punter..

The Wing-T is all about misdirection and many feel that the offense is outdated..... This may be true but it has carried Kennedale to this moment, so Carthage better have a game plan for the Defense to stop this show.... Carthage travels 176 miles to get here while Kennedale has a short 13 mile stretch.... You could make a case for both teams, but I like the legacy of Carthage and think they can shut down the offense some...
I played 3 units on the Over 76 LOSS.. Almost made it

3 units on Carthage -5......WIN

*I know that it's a ton of points but both teams have given up points and I think this one Flys over...

This game KIND OF reminds of the Gunther vs Newton game. Gunther/Kennedale run the wing t/90% rushing vs Newton/Carthage the explosive crazy athletic high powered team.

I like the write up. Man I am excited about today's ames.
