The projected path of Hurricane Ike is still relatively uncertain but as a precaution, we are colsing our office this Friday to allow our staff to prepare as they see fit. The storm currently has sustained winds of 90 mph and is projected to strengthen over the next 36 hours before making landfall as a major hurricane somewhere along the Texas coast. It appears that a cold front may push the eye of the storm to the coastal areas south of the Houston area but I am heading to Austin as I have no desire to spend the weekend without power. (Football comes first in my household.)

This one could be huge by the time it makes landfall fo please stay safe if you find yourself in harm's way.

Judge some of the hurricane models are now pointing near or just south of Galveston. That would be almost the worst case scenario for that area due to concerns with storm surge. Too early to tell if these models are outliers or a trend for this thing to take a more northerly path. Regardless stay safe and don't get stuck on the highways.

Devon Petr started shuting down off shore operations until at least Monday. Fill that tank up now, could see a increase in gas prices.

This thing may come right up the Gulf Freeway (I-45). I'm heading out at noon.

Judge, good luck. It looks like this thing is going to be ugly for a lot of Texas, not just the gulf cities. I'm not even sure I would want to be in Austin at this point.

everyone in the path, be safe, secure your home, family comes first.

My wife, daughter and dog evacuated last night about 8pm to my parents house in Tyler. This storm is a bad storm, do not take it lightly.

Just got checked into my room in Austin. The drive from Houston that usually takes around two and a half hours took over four and that is only because I left before noon. Just checked on Ike and it is beginning to look like the Houston/Galveston area are in for a long weekend.

Any of you guys that are going to ride this one out, please stay safe.

After the absurd drive 3 years ago the wife said we are staying. I am pretty far inland but the current path has the eye coming right down the street. Oh well...
