Take a nice walk in central park. Or get a horse and buggy ride if you're not a walker. Just put aside some time, walk around, get lost. It's really nice in there.

Funny enough, my wife and I are going up this weekend, too -- for a "getaway". Primarily, we budgeted some dough for a nice dinner. Only going up for one night though.

CP amazes me as much as anything up there. It's simply huge and beautiful and incredible that it exists right in the middle of Manhattan.

Don't know what Ground Zero looks like right now, but I'd get down that way. Nearby is Chinatown so walk in and see the crowds and eat some food.

For a first time trip, its just amazing to be there. Even if you've been in Chicago and LA and whatever, NYC is on a different scale.

I'm not much of a sightseer. I just like taking it easy up there. Wake up, find a place to get breakfast, walk it off, read the paper outdoors somewhere, find lunch, maybe take a nap, find a place to get a drink, find a place to have dinner. Its just fun being up there.

But, check a paper, check a new yorker (the one on sale in OKC right now probably has phone numbers and times for events).

This might sound gay, but, just be adventurous. Go into the greasy greek deli instead of the McDonalds for lunch. Walk back to your hotel at night instead of taking a cab (crime worries are totally overblown). The Bronx Zoo is VERY impressive if you're into Zoos. And that involves a train ride and a little stroll through the Bronx.

Anyway, that's off the top of my head.

Have fun.

I am envious of you guys, wish I was going to NYC.Lived there for the first 42 years of my life.

Central Park is a great place to walk during the day(of course you wouldn't walk there late at night). make sure you head to Strawberry Fields which is the memorial for John Lennon. The lake in CP is also a beautiful place to walk.

When you go to the WTC, which is right by the Statue of Liberty, you can, as Shrimp said go to Chinatown. Near Chinatown is little Italy, where you will see alot of old time type Italian stores.

If you decide to go to the wall st. area, there are a few landmarks from the revolutionary war time, such as Frances Tavern.

My wife's favorite place in all of NY is the Soho section of Manhattan. Here you will come upon sidewalk cafe's, art gallery's & great restaurants. We used to go walking during a weekend evening & you can usually find celebrities walking there also. The village is also a great place that is similar to soho.

There are great museums in midtown, which is closer to Central Park. The museum of Modern Art & the Musseum of Natural History are my two favorites.

I haven't been to a broadway play in many years, but I would imagine that tickets could run about $100-$150 per ticket. But there is a place that sells same day tickets for about 1/2 price.

If you are staying at a hotel in NY, I'm sure someone at the hotel will give you useful info.

If you decide to go to the un, maybe you can take a shit for me at the entrance of the building.Tell them this is what you think of the place(LOL)!

Enjoy!

Museum of Natural History is good, or as they spell it "MVSEVM OF NATVRAL HISTORY". Art museums right near by it too if you're into that.

Some really good places I've been treated to: Smith & Wollensky (for fat fat steaks), Patria (Nouveau Latino) but expect to spend over $100 at each (for two). Maybe closer to $150 at Patria. Those are outside of my means as a rule but I was treated to them.

This weekend, we're staying at a hotel with a gift certificate so we've budgeted a bit extra for food and drink and we're eating at the Mesa Grill -- supposed to be good.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
the Met, Metropolitan Museum of Art, has a very cool collection of Medieval arms and other various fighting equipment--including four horsemen, with soldiers and horses all in armor.

And a magnificent Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit of his drawings, going on now. That part would be way busy Sat tho, monday morn would be best. Anyway, this is a fine museum for guys and chicks!

If you like big band jazz, the finest in the business plays every monday night at the Village Vanguard. Two shows, call for times.

have a fine trip!

Mesa Grill is excellent place, my dad's been there many a time, Gotham Grill also good, as well as Red Eye Grill although don't remember the locations, I live on Long Island but rarely go into the city, I kind of take it for granted, but I guess if your from the midwest or somewhere where I've never been it is cool, just as Id like to go to vegas because Ive never been there, new Orleans too..Enjoy!

I would do brunch at the Plaza on Sunday, right next to the park.
Take a walk down Fifth Avenue, your wife will love you. Washington Square Park is next to Greenwich Village, you will see a ton of interesting people, especially one's with dogs. If you like steak, Ben Benson"s is good. Have a good time. My kind of city.

When I was there, there were acouple places we went that were great. Angelo and Maxi's---wonderful food, and Smith and Wollensky's was amazing. Also you have to go to Gray's Papaya. Went to Wall Streert, but dissappointed because you can't go on the exchange or gdo anything good because of security.:( Took lots of pictures at the bull though. Went to Sores, but overrated.

If you want an excellent steak go to the Palm Two. You don't need reservations and it is less $ than a peter luger's, but just as good. As for chinese the best is Mr.Ks. no doubt about it. I think it is 49th and lex. Your hotel should be able to give you exact streets.

The first time I ever went to NYC, one of the first things I did was go to Papaya with a friend. Keep in mind, I'm like 18 and never really been out of the sticks before.

Anyway, the guy behind the counter was just racing through orders and he looks at me and says, "whaddyawant?" I was like "buh buh buh" and he goes right to the next guy in line and takes his order. Then the next guy. Really like "the hot dog nazi".

So finally we're eating our dogs, and some bum kind of bumps into a guy eating his hot dog. The bum says something to him, and the guy yells at him in the thickest brooklyn accent you've ever heard, "I think the word you're looking for, is 'excuse me'". Real funny.

I was thinking, "welcome to new york."

That was a nutso trip. We got weed delivered to the apartment with a phone call, herbed up in central park at night, and then went to see "Dark Side of the Moon" at the Planetarium. Those were the days...
