GAME NOTES: A couple of teams fighting for respect in the Colonial Athletic Association hit the floor at the Convocation Center in Harrisonburg tonight, as the James Madison Dukes play host to the Towson Tigers. The Dukes, who are just 3-7 in CAA play this season, have fallen in two straight games, the most recent of which being a 59-41 decision against George Mason on Saturday. Following tonight's contest, JMU hits the road for meetings with William & Mary and Delaware, despite having won just once in eight tries away from home in 2006-07. As for the Tigers, they again failed to put together a three-game win streak for the third time this season as the Hofstra Pride stopped Towson in a 64-60 outing on Saturday in Maryland. With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, James Madison has posted a 19-5 record against the Tigers over the years, winning 10 of the 12 meetings played in Virginia. The Dukes won the first eight games in the series, but more recently Towson has shown signs of life with three victories in the last five meetings. However, JMU won the most recent contest by a score of 76-68 a season ago on the road.
Gary Neal posted a game-high, accounting for the final six points for the Tigers, but even that was not enough to keep the squad out of the loss column versus Hofstra over the weekend. C.C. Williams added 11 points for the team, while Dennard Abraham checked in with 10 points on just 4-of-12 shooting from the field before fouling out. Towson shot a disappointing 38.5 percent from the field in the contest and an even more disheartening 3-of-14 beyond the arc. A 45.3 percent shooter from the field, Neal continues to be one of the top scorers in the nation again this season with his 25.9 ppg. In addition to his scoring prowess, which has seen him convert 123-of-144 at the free-throw line, Neal has also logged 72 assists to place a near second on the team after 21 games. Abraham checks in with 10.7 ppg and a team-best 6.4 rpg, but his 18.8 percent behind the three-point line and woeful 58.3 percent at the charity stripe still leaves a lot to be desired.
The James Madison offense was nowhere to be found in the first half against George Mason on Saturday, posting just six field goals and 5-of-11 shooting at the free-throw line in what would eventually become a dismal 41-point effort over 40 minutes of action. Not a single player in the starting lineup managed to crack the double-digit scoring barrier, leaving that feat to Joe Posey who tallied 12 points on 3-of-9 shooting beyond the arc. The output by Posey represented his lowest of the season. Having come off the bench in all but three games thus far, Posey is no stranger to point production though, putting up 11.6 ppg on 42.4 percent shooting behind the three-point line. Juwann James is first on the unit with 13.4 ppg, but shooting just 54 percent at the stripe and fouling out six times has cut down on his overall production.
No longer the Towson team that everyone else in the CAA simply ran over from night to night, these Tigers plan to make the rest of the regular season hard on all opponents, so expect to see Neal come out gunning from all over the floor in this meeting.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Towson 67, James Madison 58
The final was 69- 60.......
Another prediction today:
Called the O/U to the pt on a game I was on:
ports Network Predicted Outcome: Austin Peay 77, Southeast Missouri State 63...... Final was 138 pts. scored.
I have to give them credit..... Some of my weird (smaller, not regular TV teams), that I bet on are found on this site.
I never would have known about CS FULLERTON this year and their ATS stuff without this site.
Of course, sometimes they are off.... But when you see a dog that is getting 5+ pts and this site says they win by 3 or more...... HAMMMER THE DOG with pts and ML!!!!! I am hitting well over 60% on those games.....
