#16 Arizona State +9 and +325 money line at Iowa

ASU played USU without 4 very important starters. they have been running a very dry offense to this point to get ready for this game at Iowa. Iowa is coming off a road win over rival iowa state. Getting better than 3 to 1 on this game is way to much.. play asu now

Iowa will be without the number 1 safety (all american-bob sanders again) and the best wide out most likely is out and a top running back is gone for iowa too

Iowa is also off the big win over ISU and finally got that monkey off their backs. Might not have as much intensity in this game. Personally I am staying away. This Iowa team looks like they have something to prove after hearing about how big their drop-off would be in the wake of them losing so many starters, particularily on the OL. Still should be a great game and interesting matchup.

Aren't you loving this line bgold?

I spoke to Walter today and he said he thought they were going to be 7 point dogs....I orignally thought 5 at most. I think that is big time value.

Walter said that Dirk hasn't opened up the playbook yet, and they really weren't up for playing those teams. He said they should have been, but they weren't. Look for a different team this Saturday.

He also took out a million dollar policy on himself for 10,000, just an FYI..

On a side note, I use to watch Skyler Fulton when he
played HS ball here at Capital in Olympia,WA.......
He had a nice game v Utah St. Also, followed Mike
Karney, he played for 4A state Champs-Kentwood.
Two actually played against each other their Senior
years. Good Luck Devils!!!!

SKYLER emerged saturday as the legit number 1.. although he did drop a few easy catches.. and karney was held out last week,... but will play vs iowa.. as you know that dude can flat out block. Must have been fun watching those kids in high school

I'm a big Hawkeye fan and hoping they win, but I had the game capped as Iowa a 4-5 point favorite. I'm with you guys taking the points.

Maurice Brown not listed on depth chart

Iowa City Press-Citizen

Maurice Brown, the star Hawkeye wide receiver who injured his ankle on a touchdown catch during Saturday's game with Iowa State, is not listed on the team's two-deep depth chart released today.

Listed in Brown's place is Ramon Ochoa, backed up by Matt Melloy. Ed Hinkel is listed at the other wide receiver spot, backed up by Calvin Davis.

Freshman fullback Champ Davis is not listed at fullback. Edgar Cervantes is listed as starting, backed up by Aaron Mickens.

After serving his suspension and getting playing time against Iowa State, Sam Aiello is listed as backing up Peter McMahon on the offensive line. All other offensive starters are the same, as are defensive and special teams starters.

BG I sincerly hope you are right on this one. You know my account status and lets just say I pretty much un-loaded on ASU here. Wish I would've gotten them at +10.5 but +9 is good with me too. Looks like this will be the first time since the '97 Rose Bowl that I will be rooting for the scum devils.

Right on BGold, Jermelle Lewis tore his ACL last spring and true freshman AJ Johnson is out a few more weeks. Sanders being out is huge, he's a force in the secondary.

I think this line ends up around 7

what kind of running game do you have? This game could get one sided on both sides of the ball, ASU airing it out and the Hawks trying to grind it out.

The running game for ASU is far from spactacular, although a lot better than last year's. Loren Wade, a RSFresman, looks to be the starter and looks to be the best back on a team with 5 highly touted ones...

Mike Williams, the opening day starter who isn't that good, had an MCL sprain 2 games ago and I believe is questionable for Iowa. That isn't a big loss, as Wade is a better runner than Williams. Williams does however, excel in pass blocking.

Look for Walter to fling it all over the field. This reminds me of last year, when ASU played Oregon after we lost to North Carolina. We played poorly in the N.C. game, and wasn't mentall all there. Then we went up to Autzen and beat the #6 team in the country after being down by 21. Same thing hear. We are getting incredible line value b/c ASU didn't win by more (although they dropped a long TD pass, fumbled on the goaline, and got a punt return for a TD called back=21 points right there) becuase the final score is not indicative of the game.

Big time line value. If ASU gets smoked and come out sluggish, hey...that is gambling. However, gambling is ALL about value, and getting the #16 team in the country with 9 points against a big 10 team that hasn't shown much of anything either and is missing their key safety and thin at other spots is value at the MOST.

Marra- I disagree big time with your assesment on Mike Williams. I know ASU fans also disagree with me, but without Mike Williams the passing game takes a huge step back. Williams is one of the best blocking running backs I have seen in a long time. He is not a spectacular runner, but should get a lot of pt. Hakim Hill on the other hand may run wild.
Hakim the son of JD Hill went to City high in Iowa City, and while his brother Khalil Hill stayed at home to play WR for Iowa before being drafted by Atlanta, Hakim had off the field problems and wnated to get out of Iowa. Hakim is one of the most talented RB;s in the Pac-10, just ask Ksstate inthe Holiday Bowl. This could be his breakout game becasue there is a lot of hatred from hill and from iowa towards each other

Dont forget Mo WIlliams is out as well for Iowa, he is there deep threat at WR and head and shoulders better than any other reciever Iowa has. Iowa is a great team that is hurt by the injury bug right now and ASU should reap the benefits of being healthy

bgold-
I mentioned that Wade is the better runner, but Williams excels in pass blocking...

I hope Hakim runs wild, I was his neighbor in the dorms, and he is a decent guy...

I actually saw him have to outrun the cops after a fight broke out at the dorms, and it was the fastest I have seen anyone run. He hurdled 2 bike racks. It was unreal. A cop as a girl that saw Hakim run guy said she thought he was on a bike :p.

marra- i guess i am still remembering mike williams showing so much promise running as a freshman when dlevon flowers tore his acl, i think when flowers returned and mike was back on the bench it really stunted his growth as a runner. I hope he gets it going, not that it matters becasue Koetterwill throw 40 times a game anyways

College football is about as far as you can get from an exact science.

Case and pointSan Diego State almost beat Ohio State at the Horseshoe.

That N.C. game was a sandwich game where we looked like absolute crap, it happens sometime. We also shut down Oregon State the week before and held them to under 9 points. Then we went on to shut U-Dub down as well. The N.C. game was an abiration where we missed 5 field goals and turned the ball over a rediculous amount of times.

Utah St threw for 308 yards because they didn't run the ball at all, they passed on every down. Not to mention the best part of our secondary (All PAC 10 Jason Shivers) was held out to make sure he is 100% for the Iowa game.
