I am scanning some pictures and I keep tryin to attach them to an e-mail and they are too big. I can only attach 3.0mb and after scanning they are 6.4. How can I make them smaller so they will attach?? If any one can help soon I'd appreciate it.

sorry for the late post, but i just came across this....
I have the same problem with digital pics...the files are so fawking big.....
you'll need a photoshop editor program to re-size the pics so that you'll be able to e-mail them as attachments....
- i use adobe photoshop 5.5

OR you may wanna try changing the properties on your scanner software to make the files smaller....??

i dunno, i just got a new scanner yesterday and man.....i'm like, scanning all my pictures while i was growing up(borrowed from my parents place...)and printing them out....
this scanner's even able to do negatives and slides with a built in transparency adapter....it blew my mind!!!!
I found a negative from the 1970's of my mom, scanned it and then blew it up to a 8X10 picture......it looks MINT!!!!!
what you can do with technology these days.....

Thanks for your help guys....I'm just gonna set up my other e-mail account tomorrow, I've been putting it off for weeks. I know that I have no problem attaching pictures from there. Thanks again.

Here's what you do for those HUGE picture files:
Use paintshop pro (easy to use & a shareware version for 30 days is probably available at one of the download sites)
Scan the photo into paintshop (file, import, twain, acquire)
RESIZE the darn thing in the program (image, resize) to make it manageable.
Export as a jpeg image (there is an icon on the menu bars for it and jpeg's are cleaner than gifs)....compress the jpeg file to 10. It will tell you the new file size as you compress...and it shows you a small snapshot of the image so you can see if it gets distorted.
Save, and send...it will be MUCH smaller...

As for the scanner - before you scan, try changing the scan options, in particular, the resolution. You probably have the resolution set to 200 d.p.i. or maybe 300 d.p.i. Try to change it to 75 dpi or so. That should get you started in the right direction.
if it does't get you in the right direction my dear i am sure i will be able to, it's all in the hands and treatment of a lady give her what she ask for with in reason and make her feel special
