Raptors fire Pak woman


The Toronto Raptors have made one of the more unusual moves of the season.

They have fired a member of the team's Dance Pak.

Identified as "Lucie'' by the team, the 19-year-old is featured as Lindsey Marshal on an adults-only Internet site that calls her a "Canadian girl.''

"She's obviously very upset with the team's decision,'' Tony Edwards of Avenue Blue, the company that hosts the site, said in a release. "Lucie viewed her Raptors dancing as a great opportunity to advance her career. The Web site was a way to fund her ambitions to become a professional dancer.''

And what better way than posing topless or in the shower?

OK, what better way that requires so little effort?

"She would not be an appropriate member for the Dance Pak because we don't want people coming down here and seeing Lucie and then realizing she has an alias where she's showing quote-unquote pornographic material of herself,'' Raptors events operations director Jim Roe told the Toronto Sun. "It's not the image we want.

"We definitely want the Dance Pak to be appealing and sexy, and that's part of the package. This just takes it too far, and it does not fit with our values.''

Lucie wants her job back. The 19-year-old cheerleader was fired from
the Raptors Dance Pak on Monday after it was discovered Lucie is
better known on the Internet as Lindsey Marshal, the star of an adult
Web site.

"She's hoping the Raptors will reconsider and hire her back," said
Tony Edwards of Avenue Blue Entertainment, which owns
www.lindseymarshal.ca and other Web sites.

"The Raptors are losing a very good dancer."

The Raptors would not comment on the firing yesterday, saying it was a
personnel issue. Lucie was not available for comment yesterday either.

Meanwhile, Lucie (her real name -- Lindsey Marshal is a pseudonym) may
not pose again for the Web site because it has derailed her dancing
career. Edwards said Lucie, who made "several thousand dollars" from
the site since April 2002, was using the money to pursue a career as a
professional dancer.

"She's reconsidering whether she wants to continue doing that,"
Edwards said of the Web site. "She didn't feel she was doing anything
wrong."

Lucie wears a white towel on the front page, but the garments quickly
come off once visitors click into the Web site.

'NOT EXPLICIT'

The preview page shows Lucie in a variety of poses, from topless in
the shower to posing provocatively with her naked buttocks to the
camera.

Edwards described the pictures as soft-core porn: "They're not
explicit photos."

"She couldn't take a bad picture," Edwards said. "We're really hoping
she can take hold of the situation to propel her career."

One fan in a forum connected to the Lindsey Marshal Web site wrote
yesterday that the bounced cheerleader is "pretty much guaranteed a
spot in Playboy."

The Internet chatter about Lucie's two jobs began last Saturday with
the posting, "Wow. I had no idea Lindsey 'Lucie' Marshal was a dancer
for a basketball team. I should pay more attention to sports."

Looks like she'll be in playboy soon
