If I was Martelli I would of called a timeout....
If I was Matta,Miles would of been out a lot sooner
If I was Self,I would of given the ball to Siemien just once in the last 9 minuts of the game.
If I was Gottfried I would of not attacked Okafor 12 times.

I love hindsight, second guessing and the most famos" if I was coaching I would..."
But thats a part of the game.We are all undefeated sitting in the stands or watching on TV.My JV coach who was at my side for 23 yrs always said he never lost a varsity game. But he had a big part of many of my wins.

Martelli is being critized by not calling time out.I agree with him and let the flow of the game take its course.I don't want the defense setting up.But if you watch that play Nelson came down on his own to create a play. But look where the other 4 players of St Joes are.All spread out,and only one guy near the basket.
It was not a set play.So really the defense didn't know what was coming but either did the offense.

Matta admits today he was slow subbing for Miles.Thats a big blunder. You have to jump up and grab your player sitting next to you.

Self's mistake was fouling at the end of that 2nd to last series when Miles? fouled with a few seconds on the shot clock.KU made some dumb plays at the end.And Simien never touched the ball.

Bama had no answers for Conn.Maybe go out further and stop Ben.Or maybe stop Anderson...how do you stop that shot when he is in the zone.

Great games.Worst call was the Tenn-Baylor girls game.Tie score with .03 on the clock and the ref calls for a foul.Unreal

LSU -2 over Georgia
Tigers destroyed Texas.Speed of the 3 gds dominated UT and will do the same vs Georgia.
Augustus is on fire.Hodges and Johnson are great perimeter players.Georgia won by 6 the last time these 2 teams met.But LSU is quicker.
Gunter is not there but imagine the LSU coach in the huddle and calls out a play calling her players by there 1st name.
"Temecka, pass the ball to Seimone, then Doneekka set a screen,Wendlyn flash to the basket,Hanna hit the bds. Khaliliah pay attention. You might sub.Now lets get out there..on three.. hustle......Scholandra can you move down a few seats, that is where the coaches sit...."
Those are some great 1st names.

My Vernon won the NY state Fed games by beating Lincoln HS with Sebastian Telfair. It was the PSAL champs vs the NY State Public HS champs.MT Vernon won 66-52.Telfair had 14 pts and 10 turnovers.Mt Vernon went to zone after being down 18-10 in the 1st qrt.
But Tefair is the 1st gd who will likley enter the NBA draft.Maybe after what Mt Vernon did to him he will reconsider and go to Louisiville. But all these NBA scouts where at Glenn Falls "gassing his head".To bad

im still trying to figure out what the hype with sebastian telfair is all about. every time ive seen him play, he is either a turnover machine or he gets outplayed.

maybe he will be better than marbury. maybe he wont. time will tell. but hes nowhere near ready for the nba. talent is there, but it was also there for the omar cooks of the world too.

Agree on Telfair. The first few times I saw him play I kept thinking he was overhyped - but talked myself out of being so critical rationalizing it thinking that I was comparing him to Lebron. But as always I should have stuck with my first impression, for all the build up I just don't see it.

On a side note - the coach of Lincoln was quoted after the game saying something to the effect of "no one remembers the state champ, just the city champion." Obviously a stupid quote, and Mike and the Mad Dog (major NY sports radio program) got the coach of Mt Vernon on the radio today just to make sure everyone does remember who the state champs are.

i totally agree with Martelli.....who would want to get a shot against a set Okie State defense?

Nelson got a good look and it just didn't go in

Miles played a horrible game...key TO's and mental mistakes along with not getting ball into Simien

was thinking the same thing about miles box! was on my way back home from playing golf down in pa and was listening to the game on the radio. i couldnt believe they still had him in w/13 minutes left and his team was winning @ the time. i can see if they were losing by maybe 7-10 points? but not within range especially they were ahead. bad coaching on his part

i also agree with martelli. With guys who can create like Nelson and west and a spot up shooter like carroll, your best shot is to go before d can set up. no problem with that call what so ever.

I agree Self should have sat Miles for a minute and remind him that he is the 3rd option at best. Not only did simeon not get a shot in last 10 minutes but hardly got a touch. Unacceptable. Miles was out of control. Did you see what Boeheim did with forth? He thought he was pearl washington 2 straight trips and Boe sat his ass for rest of the first half. did not work out but you have to do it.

When anderson for UCONN is in a zone, there is no defense to guard him. A pure shooter. For those of you who have not been watching, he is 16-31 from 3 in the tourney, 52%. On freakin fire.

Blackman,I missed Bobby Cimino on the radio. He is a funny guy.Wish I heard it.The coach of Lincoln has it backwards.
Last week was the NY State Public HS Championships.NYC has there own tournament. They are 2 seperate organizations.NYPHYSAA and the PSAL.
A week after our state tournament the 2 winners meet again. It's always our group that the game is anti-climatic.Not NYC's.
Lyr Rochesters Jesuit beat Mt Vernon by 7 in the finals. That's for the state title. It's hard for Rochester to win on Sunday, drive 5 hours home, then come back in 4 days and play Christ the King of NYC in the same place.
It's NYC that wants to play the federation games. Many of the Public schools in NY state don't want to play this extra game. Most AD's are against it. But NYC has a lot of "pull" and the games must be played.
It's funny that the Lincoln coach said that.
And Telfair got his ass handed to him.
I could see if he was like a Carmelo or Lebron.Look at Villanueva of Conn.He was a last minut drop out of the NBA.He doesn't even start for UConn.
There are many Omar Cooks out there. What a shame.

And last week while I was up in Glen Falls,Amityvilles AJ Price looked better then Telfair.
AJ shoots much better and is a better passer.Telfair dribbles better and penetrates better.
AJ is sighned, sealed and delivered to UConn. The rich get richer...

tenn/baylor

tenn/baylor

tenn/baylor game was pretty entertaining for women's hoops.

the foul with .02 on the clock was a LOOSE BALL foul of all things.
2 girls going after the ball, they run into each other, but a foul on Baylor....criminal

it's not like the tenny player would have even had a chance to make a shot. unless there's blood, swallow the whistle and let it go to OT.

Tenn/Baylor

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I have no problem with the foul call... I thought it was the right call....

Keep in mind that I officiated high school and college ball for 15 years, after playing HS and college myself....

I've never agreed with the view that refs should "swallow the whistle" in the last 10 seconds of a game... a foul is a foul, and the game should be refed consistently throughout - not apply different standards based on time left on the clock. The rule book certainly doesn't tell you as an official or coach that "fouls will not be called in the last 10 seconds of a game, so go at it!".

Granted, I understand that this was a loose ball - but the girl from Baylor clocked the girl from Tenn... at any other point of the game, a foul would be called on that play....

Keep in mind that the officials are not constantly watching the clock - they are watching the action and calling in accordingly (keep in mind this is NOT true in the NBA).. so I can understand why the foul was called... yes, it was unfortunate that there was only 0.3 seconds left... but again, I do feel it was the correct call - just unlucky timing for Baylor..

FYI - I really don't care about either team, and have no allegiance... this is just one man's opinion (and it appears that I'm in the minority here - but still willing to state my view anyway!)
