In farewell speech, Sen. Levin knocks Democrats for going 'nuclear'

By: Paul Singer 7 hours ago

Departing Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., gave his farewell speech Friday in the chamber he has served since 1979, denouncing a 2013 decision by his Democratic colleagues to limit filibusters on some executive branch nominees.

As reported by our colleagues at the Detroit Free Press:

Calling minority protections ?the singular hallmark? of the Senate, (Levin) urged the chamber to turn back a precedent set by the Democratic majority he is part of last year to hamper minority filibusters on presidential nominations, saying it violated the Senate?s set process for changing the rules.

?Protections of the minority make the Senate more than just a place to slow things down,? he cautioned. ?Those protections make it a place where we work things out. It is those protections which produce compromise.?

Other senators took to the floor to praise Levin ? but then, it?s the U.S. Senate, and you don?t really expect someone to get up and say ?I am sure glad that guy is leaving. Never could stand him.?

Look at this Democrat SHITHEAD, he's leaving and NOW he condems the NUCLEAR OPTION, only after the DEMORATS lost control of the Senate.
