MANKATO, Minn. ? The Vikings have increased security for all 10 of their home games at the Metrodome this season. Procedures could include fans being patted down on their way into the stadium if the national security-alert level is raised to orange.

Fans attending Saturday night's exhibition-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals will be subjected to searches if they attempt to bring items with them into the stadium. According to a letter sent to season ticket holders, "Nothing larger than a small purse, which will be subject to inspection, will be allowed for fans to carry into the stadium."

Fans are urged to arrive "earlier than usual," according to the letter. Express lanes will be added at each gate for fans without items to be checked.

If the national security alert goes to orange, or high, the NFL mandates that all fans be patted down before entering the stadium, Spinner said.
