I know its a little early but see some good value for this race. carb day is over and some drivers looked very much ready and some where lost on setups and speed. Of course there are no carbs on the cars but it is tradition and today was the last day before the race to have your cars ready to go racing sunday for the flying start to the greatest race in the world, bar none.
Scott Sharp won the pit stop competition, capping off a great May for him and his team. He has been fastest car or in the top 5 for speed everyday for practice and of course he is on the pole. Today was no different he was the fastest car out there today running a 223.678. Of course the fastest is not what wins but who holds together for 500 miles.
I have been at the track for almost everyday of May and see some really good teams that are stuggling. People to stay away from are, 1.Eddie Cheever he has had electrical problems all month and I still don't believe they have solved them. 2.Greg Ray his owner (Johnathan Menard) has spent more money than anyone trying to win this race and it will not happen this year. Ray will make a mistake somewhere during the race either in the pits or on the track. 3. Al Unser Jr. his car has been lacking speed all month and he barely missed being bumped the last day of qualifications. 4. Sarah Fisher great competitor but lacking speed. 5. Tony Stewart trying to pull the double duty here and he will be more worried about going to Charlotte than focusing on the real task at hand. 6. Micheal Andretti Snake biten is all I can say plus he has also lacked speed all month.
There are six drivers I am narrowing in on and will get it down to 4 for race but there is some money to be had if we hit and place the proper wagers. Here they are.
1. Scott Sharp 6-1
2. Robby Gordon 14-1
3. Buddy Lazier 14-1
4. Arie Luyendyk 20-1
5. Sam Hornisch Jr. 15-1
6. Eliseo Salazar 25-1
we also see some value in the field 8-1 with the 2 Ganassi drivers not having odds listed at this time. They both took there first laps around the speedway at top speeds and both qualified the same day. That is amazing. Will wait to see if odds are posted before the race. will be back Saturday to give final selections.
