Qualifying is on Saturday and it looks like a few books have qualifying matchups. I notice OLY is closing theirs on Friday at noon. By then there will have been a full week of practice sessions to make some picks on. Right now it looks like Scott Sharp, Laurent Redon and Bruno Junqueira are the fastest.

These picks are early but you gotta take advantage of those lines:

Junqueira -140 over cheever ( 3 units)
Sharp -130 over luyendyk ( 2 units)
Redon (the rookie!) -120 over giaffone ( 1 unit)

I don't expect much change in the up to date results until the qualifying so it's better pull the trigger now than too late!;)

Last match ups before the first session of qualifying tomorrow:

T. Kanaan -115 over J.Vasser ( 2 units) Intertops

Vasser like his car for the race not the qualifying while Kanaan has admitted he will push hard for the pole! That is enough for me for a 2 units play!;)

I don't know. But I did read that Robby Gordon was injured or something in practice. OLY had that matchup too and also closed it.

i see the bets haven't been graded. why is this? i guess i don't understand the format of qualifying.

on espn.com, it says, "Time trials are scheduled Sunday and again on May 19. Once the field is filled, the slowest qualifiers can be bumped by faster cars until the end of the final round at Indianapolis Motor Speedway."

Can someone explain this and how it can affect wagers? Thanks :)

I think with this one it's a bit different since the first 24 positions were decided with yesterday's qualifying and the last 9 positions will be decided today. My guess is it will be graded after today.

Nope they are all paid out. Apparently they grade the bets on the first day of qualifying which is only fair. With the Daytona 500 the twin 500's had no bearing on the qualifying matchups. So you're Bruno Junqueira bet should have been graded a winner.

Just checked my qualifying matchup wagers for the Indy 500 and they were graded. According to OLY the bets were for MBNA Pole Day only and had nothing to do with starting lineup.

As I said that's only fair and is in fact very consistent - Kudos to OLY and WSEX. I'm sure they lost money on the matchups. With NASCAR the Daytona 500 is based on the first day of qualifying only and in the past when they had 2 days of qualifying for NASCAR the results were always based on the first run only. This only makes sense. And we won :D
