All in all I like interleague, yup. It's not bad to watch try doing it if you have no money on a game. I think I have figured out why it seems so difficult to wager on. It seems harder because the two teams have more difficulty playing one another and usually will try to play the same way as their cross league counterpart. Let me explain for those of you who watched the sox/braves game last night you should have seen this. Jimy williams used to coach on the braves staff and was very close to bobby cox, and last night in an attempt to beat him he tried to play bobby's game. Perfect example, the sox have a man on first now outs with Troy O'leary up and jimy calls for the sac bunt, no big deal right? Wait the sox are last in the league and as noted by the announcers last night the pitching staff of the braves have more attempts than the entire sox team. O'leary himself had sacrificed in four years! Well he could not lay the bunt down, and although this did not change the game it shows an example of jimy trying to beat bobby at his own game instead of playing the way he normally does. One more example and then I will get off my interleague soapbox.
Detroit / Chicago....
Baylor has always played small ball and did again last night, the only problem was it gave detroit fits on defense, they had not seen it as many times as the cubs had executed it. Therefore the cubs seemed to have a man in scoring position almost everytime, which lead to big scoring. If not for an error by Coomer the tigers would have been blown out of the water.

Just my 2 cents on why it is a bit harder to cap interleague..

I don't know how anyone can pass on the yankees today....

First off a couple of notes, besides the obvious the yanks are streaking and the mets are free falling. The mets clubhouse is distracted by the whole valentine-floyd all star snub, and to make matters worse for himself valentine thought he would drag torre's name through the mud.

Valentine also launched a thinly veiled attack on New York Yankees manager Joe Torre for not selecting Seattle reliever Jeff Nelson for the AL team. Nelson was angry last year, his final season with the Yankees, when Torre bypassed him.

"Almost everyone believes Nelson didn't get picked for personal reasons," Valentine said. "Floyd doesn't get picked for professional reasons and I get criticized for making it personal."

Torre denied his feelings had anything to do with not picking Nelson.

"The day I do anything for personal reasons is the day I should walk away from the game," Torre said. "I would be hurting the team if I did that. That adversarial relationship I had with Jim Leyritz was very difficult but we accepted him on this team and I think that gives us an idea of my mindset. It's ridiculous to think that I would not pick Jeff for personal reasons."

Also using the mindset I described in my reasons that interleague is hard to cap, I take a look deeper. Valentine used to be an AL guy, and will try to follow torre's lead something he cannot do.

The yankees are plain hot and I hate to lay that kind of chalk, but will not go against them in this spot. To make matters worse. The yankees killed the mets last night and did not even have to go to mariano rivera or stanton. Appier has been pitching well but the yanks have his number, mussina on the other hand is 3-0 vs. the mets and with a rested bullpen I see no letting up.

PLAY Yankees -200 (gulp)
PLAY Yankees -1.5 -125

Trends...

Mets = 2-9 @ Yankees last 11 games
4-11 last 15 games
4-1 o/u on road on Saturday last 5 times
Appier = 1-3 last 4 starts
1-5 @ New York since 95
0-2 o/u last 2 road starts
2-0 o/u @ New York in 2000

YANKEES = 11-3 vs Mets last 14 games
9-1 last 10 home games
9-0 last 9 games
32-12 @ home in July since 98
19-6 in 2nd game of a homestand last 25 times
1-3 o/u last 4 home games
5-1 o/u @ home on Saturday last 6 times
Mussina = 2-0 last 2 home starts
4-0 last 4 starts
11-4 @ home in Day starts since 99
3-0 vs NY Mets
1-4 o/u last 5 starts
1-5 o/u in July since 2000

Total players may have a play in this as well under eight looks rigt on target considering how well these two pitchers have been throwing, but I think the Over is the call in this spot. First off in this nine game winng streak the yanks average seven and a half runs per game. In the last four games of this series the game went over three out of four times, and the weather is here to help out as well. The winds are currently out of the south (O/U 7/0 ) and are forecasted to shift southwest which is out of the stadium.
Fletcher is behind the plate and although is O/U is only 8/6 it is a bit deceiving as he averages over 11 runs a game, and 2.8 homeruns a game.
PLAY OVER 8 -105

FINAL Yankees 9 Mets 2

Also note a huge double-play botch by Detroits Halter in the 5th completely changed the game (from a 9-7 lead to a 14-9 deficit) and led to a 7 run inning for the Cubs. Personally I love watching the interleague games. Good luck today
