the fan590.com (I'm listening on the radio),

as an american, are you more interested in watching the USA-CANADA gold medal hockey game, where your country may win a GOLD medal, or watch the orange bowl where a #9 team plays a #10 team.

Radio host obviously agrees that most american's would rather see the football game over the hockey game due to the choice of sport, but he goes on to argue that american's should watch the hockey game over the football match since your country may win a gold medal (a very special moment).

thoughts.....

I would watch Iowa/GT over the hockey game.

Actually, I would not watch the hockey game for almost any reason because I am not a fan of the game. I have attended some minor league hockey games and had fun at those.

I see where the host is coming from, but it occurs to me that the USA wins so many gold medals that winning one more does not have the impact as it would in another country that does not enjoy our level of Olympic success.

i like watching hockey in person more than on tv....but unless the rangers are playing for the championship, which we know won't happen, i would rather watch a football game....although i did watch the miracle on ice game on tv....

USA doesn't win so many gold medals... Not many at all in fact..

I would rather watch the Hockey game. Now if it is Texas vs. Alabama then I am going to watch that.. We have Tivo now.. Watch the football game and then watch hockey later

Uuuuhhhh..... Orange Bowl.

Now, if it goes like last night's Fiesta Bowl, I may watch C-Span before turning to the hockey game.

I would watch the Hockey game above anything else as it is my favorite sport. I grew up playing the sport also and dedicated much of my young life trying to make it to the NHL. I would watch the Hockey game and will watch the Blackhawks above any college game including the championship game.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Is this a real-world example?

Is the US team in a tournament right now where we have a chance at a gold medal?

I had no clue.
