Iowa: Jewel Hampton Out With Knee Injury

Hampton (knee) will miss the Sept. 5 season opener against Northern Iowa and the Hawkeyes haven?t ruled out that his injury could be season ending. ?Well, it could go either way. Right now, we?re not sure and I wouldn?t want to try and predict it,? head coach Kirk Ferentz told ESPN.




Paki O?Meara is listed as the starter on Iowa?s latest depth chart with redshirt freshman Adam Robinson as his backup. Jeff Brinson has also missed time due to injury, making Iowa thin at running back to start the season.

In Va Techs case, sounds like its not the end of the world....rFR Ryan Williams as been referred to as lighting in a bottle and true frosh David Wilson has been compared to the 2nd coming of Kevin Jones, when he came on the scene as a true due to the starter being lost to injury back in 01.....

from everything ive heard jeff brinson has had the most impressive camp in iowa and seems there are high expectations for super frosh Brandon Wegher....any hawkeye fans know the scoop?

Iowa is very think at running back--Jewel was going to be a good one. Would not be surprised to see him miss the whole year.
