I see Iowa got the good off lineman from Valor HSW here Denver--good solid kid. Choose Iowa over Michigan and Auburn

Rivals has Thurston ranked ahead of Kozan from Valor, I watched them both play. I think Kozan is more solid now, however Thurston has an INCREDIBLE FRAME, just a huge kid. Why do you say previously verballed, he is still N?

Yup, I did my undergrad there from 95-99.

cool, I originally grew up there and went to a non-football school (DePaul) so have always backed them.

Now we better leave kurby before Hawk gets upset that we hijacked his thread.

Greg Garmon, the stud running back that the Hawkeyes got from Erie, PA is going to be on tv tomorrow night in the International Bowl.

The game can be seen on CBS Sports Network.

The RB is a stud and I agree Thurston is probably better now but think the Valor kid will catch him--has an amazing frame to build on and listening to both of them talk I think he is a lot smarter.
Redsfann--what does the over all recruiting class look like?

Kozan is a stud. Very Smart, comes from a great family and is a hard worker. He will play for you guys in a few years, probably move him to a guard.

Typical Ferentz class; a couple of 4 stars, a few more 3 stars and a bunch of kids that Iowa won out over the likes of Ball State, Vandy and Kansas. Yawn.

Kirk Ferentz is the longest-tenured coach in the Big Ten, patrolling the Iowa sideline since 1999. Over that span, Ferentz has had only one offensive coordinator with him at the school, Ken O'Keefe.

That will no longer be the case.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, O'Keefe is leaving a program to take a job with the Miami Dolphins. New Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin spent several years on Iowa's staff, coaching the offensive line from 1999 to 2002.

Ferentz confirmed the news in a release saying that "Ken O'Keefe has decided to leave our staff for another coaching opportunity."

All of which means there will be a lot of turnover on a coaching staff that hasn't had much at all ever since Ferentz was hired. Defensive coordinator Norm Parker retired following the 2011 season, and defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski left to take a job with Nebraska in December.

GREAT NEWS!
Wonder if Chuck Long will get the job?
Supposed to be an announcement soon on the new D coordinator, hope it doesn't take too long to get a new O coordinator hired. Going to be an interesting off-season/2012 season in Iowa City...

I thought the same thing on Long, reds.
Ferentz is supposed to announce on Wednesday the new D coordinator. I have a feeling he is going to hire his son. He waited until after the Super Bowl to announce it.
I also think it will not be Parker. If it was him they would have announced it a long time ago.

THANK GOD O'QUEEF IS GONE!! No surprise that a team that is as lost as the Dolphins took him off our hands.

A lot of the message board talk about KOK being gone revolves around Ferentz and him being the reason the offense was so conservative under KOK. Guess we will see if that is true or not. Also wonder if Barta grew a pair and told Ferentz that things need to change and change soon or he would bite the bullet, eat the cost and fire Ferentz if the program didn't show some improvement. In due time we shall have some answers to these and other questions...
