As you all are aware, I by No Means am an Alabama Crimson Tide Fan! But just for the sake of giving my 2 cents on a Alabama Sports issue, would like to just say "Coach Fran..........I hope you get pummeled by Baylor and Kansas next year!"! As a DYE hard Auburn fan and an avid Bama trasher I still find it just plain ole Shitty of Fran to desert a Team that has given so much over the past year or so overcoming sanctions and adversity and still winning football games! This just goes to show me that he is not willing to become a part of Tradition and honor in a program but just there for the paychecks and kickbacks! Alabama has one of the if not the richest programs, tradition wise, that has ever taken the field. Bear Bryant was not swayed by money, he was a true class act. Just like Shug Jordan would not run for the money or chase the big bucks at another school or level of play! Those coaches had something that ole Fran just aint got..........that is Character and the willingness to build something besides a fat bankroll. They were the coaches who cared for the players that they recruited and took on as children of their very own..........they unlike Fran, Obviously gave a shit about the program and not the proceeds!

I'll say these three things that I hope Coach Franny can hear out there at the Station...........Roll Tide, War Eagle and Shame on you Fran.......You let the Crimson Tide down and let them down hard! :nono:

Just a side note...........how long do you Aggie fans think Fran will be with you when another school coughs up another half million? I would not get too used to having ole Pinnochio around if I were you!

I did some photoshopping of him on the Texas message board that I go to. There's been a major influx of Bama fans on our board and they're all pissed. It's pretty funny.

would you leave your job for more $$?

add that to the fact that Alabama is in deep sht.....deeper than what Franchione thought when he first signed on.........

hey, Alabama couldda put in a higher offer.....OU did it for Stoops.....thats how it goes....someday when we lose Stoops to the NFL or somewhere else I say all the power to him.....

I never criticize anyone for going where they can earn more money. Eventually he'll be in a position where the money he is making is sufficient & he will be happy & stay at that job. He also may like the southwest more than the east, since he was at New Mexico.

You have to admire a guy like Paterno who years ago was being persued by a few pro teams, like the Patriots, that was offering him big bucks but instead he decided to stay at Penn State. I guess he was making enough money at Penn St. to keep him content.

I just read on MSNBC.com that Alabama turned Bill Parcells down to replace Franchione. That's interesting.

I agree with you on the money side for one purpose........If he needed more money! But C'mon he knew he was in trouble when he came on board and now he just up and leaves and blames it on sanctions:rolleyes: Fran just took the money and ran, leaving behind a program that could have made him a legend instead of a quick buck! That is what I think sucks!

Oh and your crack on Tubberville..........He left Ole Miss to come to Auburn! Would you leave Kansas to be the coach at Notre Dame for not much more money! Think before you crack on another coaching change, he left a mediocre program for one that yields him a better opportunity to win a championship! One that is building Tradition around him.........You notice Cutciffe is on the list for Bama's job now........Maybe everyone should bail out of Ole Miss:shrug: The only tradition there is being a Manning!

i wonder if you would change jobs if you were offered half a million more????

also -- Fran knew of the impending sanctions, but i seriously doubt he expected the severity...........

Blue,
I agree with you about Franchione's classless move to A&M. It's the way he handled the situation that really bugs me, not the fact that he moved. The way he couldn't even face his players to tell them the news and made his assistants do it. That's not too classy in my book. But, here's a look at the other side of the coin:

1. He needs to look out for #1 and his family above all other things, even though he sold so many players on the 'Bama program. Hell, do you really think Brodie Croyle would've gone anywhere besides 'Bama? Guys like that are born and raised and surrounded with everything 'Bama and have dreams of playing for them one day. Jessie Jackson could've been the coach and he would've still gone there.

2. I think just about ANYONE would jump on the opportunity to double their pay, no matter how much they are making. Wouldn't you? I would...am I a scumbag for that?

3. Frannie's stock is at an all-time high right now and WOULD NOT go anywhere but down if he stays at Alabama. With all the sanctions and limited scholarships, he was almost guarenteed to get worse, not better. His leveraging power is much greater now than it would be two or three years from now, guarenteed!

4. He obviously loves the state of Texas. Didn't he coach at TCU? Home is Home. Plus - Texas is pretty fruitful for top recruits, if you catch my drift.

With all of that said, I really think this was a no-brainer for him. I would have made the move too, except, I would have handled it with a little class. Yes, he did beg all of the players to stay at Alabama even though they were on probation, but what was he supposed to do? Should he have told his players, "I'll be your coach unless I get a 2 million dollar offer."? Are you telling me you would have stayed at Alabama?

If I recruited staff and employees around me when they had many other options and I told them to come to my Company, not for their betterment, but for the betterment of the Company, then, no, I wouldn't leave for twice my pay and leave them all to fix the mess.

He was in these people's houses and made promises to the kid's families. Everyone deserved better than what he did. But that's only the way I feel, and I am sure that others feel differently.

And Bluemound, it was a cheap shot against Tuberville, but I think that he was wrong, too. Go out of your conference if you want to leave; he left the kids that he told to come to Mississippi instead of Auburn. Maybe I'm a little short on knowledge of SEC lore, but Mississippi compared to Auburn isn't wuite that great of a leap. Mississippi to Auburn is comparable to me to Minnesota to Purdue. And then the first thing he did was take FSU off of their schedule. War Damn Chicken! But Ole Miss is my favorite SEC school, so I may be a little biased.

Genius, i think what blue meant was:

Notre Dame/Auburn=tradition, annually top 20 teams, possibilty for the BCS every year, stellar athletes, ect

Ole Miss/Kansas="B"players, two or three years of memorable football history, lucky to have a winning record let alone go to a bowl

Ole Miss no tradition?

Ole Miss hasn't had as successful a football program as Alabama or Auburn over the past 25 years, but that doesn't mean they don't have tradition. Ole Miss has been playing football since before your grandparents were born. I'd say that there's some tradition there, just not in your memorable history.

Stu...

Ole Miss has as much tradition in football as i do in lumberjacking.

One player: Archie Manning, 1 sec title in over 30 years! Come On!!! tradition is something that is there every year, by which compounding itself to build a "tradition". Having one, two or three memorable moments in 40 years does not equal this!

and the "before my grandparents were born" comment... what is that? my granfather, god rest his soul, would be 120 years old, so yeah, your right

I guess I have a different idea of what tradition is. You obviously measure tradition in championships and national success in recent memory. The egg bowl is approaching almost 100 years of history. This, my friend, is MY idea of tradition. Just my view, though. Not that yours is wrong or anything.

You are correct with your past 40 years statistic. True, the Rebels haven't done much in the past 40 years, but don't make such rediculous statements like, "Ole Miss has as much football tradition as I do in luberjacking."

Here's a little sample of Ole Miss football tradition for ya...

1. First collegiate football team in the state. (1893)
2. Three national championships (1959, 1960, 1962)
3. Six SEC Titles (1947, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1962, 1963)
4. Ole Miss ranks 15th nationally with 29 bowl appearances. Uh, make that 30...
5. Ole Miss ranks 11th nationally will 17 bowl victories
6. 39 First-Team All Americans
7. Over 180 professinal football players
8. 100+ First Team All-SEC selections

Some dated tradition? Absolutely
No tradition? I tend to think not...

And then there's "The Grove". Anyone that has ever been there knows exactly what I'm talking about. One of the best and most unique football traditions in the country. You may not have heard of "The Grove" up there in NYC, so here's some reading material...
