i think the islamic thugs throughout the world are systemacally positioning themselves to have a world war....
An Islamic militia has won control of the Somali capital Mogadishu, reports suggest, after waging a bloody three-month battle against warlords widely believed to be covertly backed by the US.
The warlords have been in control of the anarchic city for 15 years, but are now believed to be fleeing to other parts of Somalia or neighbouring Kenya.
The Islamic militia, which supports sharia courts in Mogadishu, announced they controlled the city in radio broadcasts and public meetings.
Their declarations were confirmed by residents and some members of the warlords' own militia, raising the possibility that an Islamic state could be declared in this troubled Horn of Africa nation.
"We want to restore peace and stability to Mogadishu. We are ready to meet and talk to anybody and any group for the interest of the people," Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, chairman of the Islamic Courts Union, said on a radio broadcast.
The secular warlords ousted dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991, ushering in years of extreme violence and anarchy.
They battled to retain power as the Islamic militia advanced, and fighting has grown increasingly violent since February.
More than 300 people have been killed and 1,700 wounded in the fighting, many of them civilians caught in the crossfire.
Some analysts view the violence as a proxy war between America and Islamic militants, and believe that many Somalis moved to the Islamic side because of Washington's perceived support for the warlords.
The sharia courts have also gained popularity by restoring a semblance of order to parts of the chaotic capital.
Washington has refused to confirm reports that it is covertly funnelling large sums of money to the warlords in an attempt to root out members of al-Qa'eda who might be operating in the Horn of Africa.
Somalia is etched in the minds of many Americans after their disastrous intervention there in 1993 led to the deaths of 18 US soldiers - an event depicted in the film Black Hawk Down.
