Islands Of Adventure or Universal studios

I going on a cruise from NY to Fla(Port Cav, miami, nasssa, private island) and we are thinking about heading to universal. Which park is the best!!

I looked for the VIP pass online and couldn't find any info, but the cruise ship has the $$ and it seems too high!! If anyone has info we would greatly appreicate it. Also if anyone has been on this cruise I'd like same feedback. We are also thinking about doing the dolphin encounter in Nassau.

Islands of adventure has more roller coaster type rides. My kids loved it. Except that my son was too small for the big coaster rides (Hulk).


Universal has more stuff geared to their movie releases. The rides/attractions are more theme based.

Agree with Fatboy, the Hulk was AWSOME, there is also this Spiderman 3D ride, now I am not big on those type of rides but this one was AWESOME too. I went about 3 yrs. ago. They also have that citywalk thing - lots of places to eat etc.

if you like thrill rides i say islands of adventure. you can pay 15.00 per pass at the gate for a vip booklet. there is a ticket to go to the front of 10-15 rides once. i think this is worth it cause you can see the whole park in less than a day and get to ride all the rides without having to wait hours. it is not like disney's fast pass where you go up at a certain time. you just present the ticket at the ride (seperate line for vip tickets) and go to the front. i never waited more than 2 minutes for a ride. the people in the other line look at you with the most pissed off expressions while you cut infront of them. hell i pay 50.00 to not wait in lines. the only thing that sucks is you can only use each ride ticket once and thats it. and each person i your party needs a ticket. hope that helps

Unversal Studios for me was better more things to do and see.
You can go to an adventure park anywhere.

Islands of Adventure...Love the rides!

Universal Studios got a little boring for my taste...

It's all subjective though, I love rides!

Islands of Adventure if you love rides.

Universal Studios if you like shows, special effects, and a few rides.
Universal charges $20+ for the VIP pass which is NOT worth the money.

Thanks for the info. I'll buy the tickets from AAA, then the Vip passes when I get there. Any floridians know how much it costs for a cab or bus from Port Cava to Universal. The ship deal is all a package and I know there making a profit on it.

I don't know about bus service, but a cab has to be really expensive. It's like 60 miles from the port to Universal. I'd probably look into renting a car.

Also, somebody mentioned the Spiderman ride at Islands. I agree, that was definitely the best 3d ride i've ever been on. I would vote for Islands. Universal has a few good attractions (Twister, Back to the Future), but overall, much better stuff at Islands.

Thanks Kosar, maybe that's why it's some much $$ to book it through the cruise line. Island it is.
