It is amazing what a dome does for a QB's stats...

Favre is having an unbelievable year at age 41 - which is in no small part to playing in a dome in my opinion. It is just such a great environment to throw the ball - no cold, no wind, etc.

Can you imagine the numbers Favre would have for his career if he played in a dome for his whole career?

To me, a QB playing half his games in a dome is much like a hitter playing in Coors Field before the humidor - it is just such a perfect environment.

And then a QB playing in a cold weather environment (GB, Chi, Buffalo, NYJ, NYG for example) - how many times do you see these guys put up big numbers? It's tough when it is cold and windy for a number of your games.

Kurt Warner is a great example - the dome played a big role in his success in STL and continues to do so in AZ. I have a hunch he wouldn't be as good in, say Buffalo.

Even Peyton Manning - yes, a very good QB. But his numbers have been inflated due to playing in a dome. I'd love to see his dome/non dome splits. I bet there is an big difference - just like there is for Coor's field hitters home and away.

EDIT: Manning's road numbers for 2009 were actually better than Home numbers - which I'm using as a proxy for dome/non dome - not sure if they hold for career, but in 09 it certainly refutes my "Manning is better in a dome"....

Just sayin' - when we look at QB's numbers, both yearly and career, we certainly need to look at the environment that they'd played - which makes me certainly appreciate the greatness (if not the whininess) of Brett Favre more and more.....
