Last Thursday night against Philly Paul Pierce played like a "man possessed" with FUNK.
-The Celts combine for 120 points as the team (inspired by the funk) and drain 19 of 29 3's!
-Pierce hit 8 of 10 behind the arc and had a "funky" 46 points.
THEN.....IT WAS INEVITABLE.....an emotional letdown and some uninspired Celtic go into Detroit and only 84 points last Sunday. Partly because of some tricky Piston defense that the Celts weren't expecting.
-Also, the team hits only 6 of 19 3's in letdown mode!
-The previously red hot man of "funk" Pierce was a dismal 0 of 3 on the 3 ball as Detroit covered him like a wet blanket. Pierce only managed 17 points on Sunday.
I know O'Brien is talking a new game plan (but he's no different than Nellie....it's run-and-gun til we're done). Futhermore, Carlisle will likely ask for bench points like he got Sunday. Hopefully......Stackhouse doesn't have one of his "off games" and can come close to the 26 he netted on Sunday.
As someone earlier said (I think it was nighthorse maybe) this Celtic defense has to be a picnic for these Pistons after that Toronto series!!!
Carlisle goes "back to the well" again for bench points and this one likely goes OVER.
Hope'n it's "inevitably" OVER tonight as an emotionally charged Celts team takes the court in Detroit!
