..watching the spurs crumble at the end of games. They are a classic choke artist team. Is Duncan a free agent this year? he will be gone and I think the Spurs are in for some tough years to come. i bet on the Spurs, and from about 4 mintues left in the game to the very last shot.. me and probably everyone else in the world never doubted they would lose. They just can't beat the lakers.

Don't get rid of the MVP. The Spurs have arguably the best 1st through 3rd quarter player in the league (maybe behind Shaq, when healthy). They just don't have anybody who has the courage to take those crucial fourth q shots, without their sphincter tightening to the size of a pin head. Kobe is the best clutch money player since Jordan's hey day, and Jerry West before him. That's what makes the Lakers so tough to beat. They've got Shaq to dominate the first three quarters, and if that's not enough, they've got Kobe to take over in the fourth. Don't dismantle the Spurs. I think they are possibly one addition away from being able to beat the Lakers. I think an excellent addition could be Nick Van Exel.

I guess I see that the spurs will always have one great player in Duncan, but they need an infusion of talent quick..Parker is really good, but not great. Robinson, Ferry, Smith, and Porter are just old and getting older. Losing Derek Anderson to free agency last year was tough. I could see Duncan leaving for a winner instead of waiting to rebuild. Ihmo.

Duncans return

Duncans return

Tim Duncan has one more year left on his contract after this season. So you will at least see him for one more season unless the Spurs arrange one of those blockbuster trades. I think this is doubtful.

Duncan is signed through next year, then he has an option to get out of his contract if he so desires. He could have bolted last year to Orlando and played with McGrady and Hill (for 5 or 6 games) but he stayed loyal to San Antonio. Not sure if that will happen after next season though. Parker is only 19 and is going to be a very good point guard. Rose is an excellent backup frontcourt player, but other than that they don't have much. Robinson is at the end of his playing days, Bowen is a defensive specialist but better suited to coming off the bench, Smith is nearing the end of this career..unless they can sign an impact wing player, they aren't going to be able to compete with LA in the near future. Having Anderson last season was nice, but he isn't a top caliber player who can make a difference.

Popovich hasn't done much to help in this series either. Game 3 was a tight game with about five minutes to go. Instead of playing Rose he puts Robinson out there and he proceeds to miss free throws, blow an easy dunk that changed the tide of the game, and was basically useless. The players missed the shots yesterday the final seven minutes, but he needed to call a couple of timeouts and design a play for somebody to get a basket. And why was Terry Porter on the floor for the final shot...he has been a great playoff performer in years past, but not this year..he had no business on the court, and even less business having the ball in his hands.

Duncan has played well in this series, but the fourth quarters have been subpar for him and the team in general. He has definitely outplayed Shaq. The difference of course is Kobe, who is the best player in the league and has been the past two seasons. Everything is magnified in the fourth quarters of these playoff games...the focus on Duncan is even greater from LA's defense but he doesn't have that complimentary second good/great player that LA has to respect. But even so, he needed to make plays yesterday for his team and he didn't get the job done, which is too bad, as it would be nice to see a team get two or three games from LA in a playoff series one of these days.

i think Popovich should be canned......he clearly doesn't have what it takes to get his team to play any semblance of non-panic basketball in the clutch....time for a change of scenery....Spurs need a perimeter scorer -- the old Houston Rockets offense doesn't work anymore......you need a guy who can get his own shot from the perimeter........
