i always enjoyed this guy in movies. he had a very intimidating presence, and seemed to be a scary S.O.B. if you met this guy in person when he was younger and he wanted to kick my ass, i'd throw the biggest rock i could find and run. sorry to see you go, Jack, always enjoyed your talent. did anyone see his horrible dracula movie? so bad it was entertaining.

Jack Palance played a lot of heavies. But as Oscar aficionados can attest, he remained pretty light on his feet.
Palance, the Academy Award-winning character actor who stole the 1992 ceremony with an impromptu round of one-armed pushups, died Friday of natural causes at his home in Montecito, California, his family said. He was 87.
Palance appeared in more than 100 movies and TV series in a screen career that spanned the 1950s to the 2000s. Like many a star with a wealth of credits, he graced some turkeys (see: Che!, The Silver Chalice, Tango & Cash), and he graced some were classics (see: Shane, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Tim Burton's Batman).
Nominated three times for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Palance claimed the trophy once, for his turn as a menacing old cowboy named Curly in 1991's City Slickers.
Upon accepting the award in 1992, Palance dropped to his feet, and showed what a 73-year-old guy who'd been relegated to hosting Ripley's Believe It or Not! could still do.
Palance's one-armed pushups brought down the house--and gave City Slickers costar (and Oscar host) Billy Crystal the greatest gift of all: material for a running gag.
"Jack Palance just bungee-jumped off the Hollywood sign," Crystal quipped at one point during the show.
